MoonageMin & Twitch's Trick-a-Week Challenge! (2020)

time to regen this thread!

How’s everyone progressing with their regens

hehe!

I’m getting somewhere. I mean not even close to have it smooth and usable in a combo, it ends up quite off plane. But still progress

How about you?

I’m getting somewhere too. Sometimes it comes out really. Ice and I suprise myself. Other times it’s not really usable. Consistency is low right now so working on it but it’s fun and tough at the same time. I like the fact it’s not a week where we are banging our heads against 1 trick. It’s something you can just jam with and try chucking one in at the end of any combo so it feels more likes playing rather than learning something new

I agree, this week is really fun.
What is your favorite yoyo to train your regens on?

I’ve found that my Sunbird was a bit too forgiving and allowed me to remain stable even when it was landing the regen super bad. And it was tough to correct the plane for the same reason.

The OD Intro with flat bearing has a smaller error margin for which I’m not ready yet.

The Ti-Vayder is the perfect middle ground with nice binds, feels light and I’m less scared of throwing it into the ground :joy:

I am using a Grail mostly

Honestly I’ve tried the mono regen thing once…i got 10 decent one. But I’ve been working 1 regen at the end of each FS combo and go for a SS combo and that’s coming out pretty smooth. It’s really awesome to be able to get solid 20 sec combos back to back. I have been using the same regen each time. But today i started to play the side style to side style regen and that is amazing when i actually land the regen.

I also have found that the regens are hard to land clean but you can deff straight out the spin on the trapeze ir with some super flow. Or just eli hop then bind and it still looks great.

FS moch 5 works great to streighten the spin after the regen.

As for which yoyo…i think once you have the groove and the yoyo binds well then i can get the regen. I’ve used all my MFD, opyoyo, Edges, vayders, mk1, a few G2, myy… full disclosure my business is still at about 40% so i have a ton of yoyo practice time. Good for throwing. Bad for any future yoyo drops.

Definitely a novelty but oh so so much fun.

Im doing…alright I suppose. I can get a few in a row but not like you beasts racking them up! I’ve been playing around (without much luck) to find other binds that I can regen out of though which has been fun  Also discovered a nifty rock the baby GT on accident yesterday

Better than I thought. I hit a good number(30+) with a few different yo-yos so I’m happy with that.

Old trick, but one of ours, @ChrysaeThrows presented a while back, momentum bind, which i always try to use poorly. Here is a bad camera angle of what i thought was a cool DON repeater combo with the momentum bind done properly.

I’m sure some of you are expecting me to pick some form of FrontStyle trick. Who am i to disappoint. This week I’ll give you guys 2 options since some of you may know these tricks better then others. One (protrusions) I’ve started working on recently. The other not even close.
2 links because the challenge has 2 parts.

We are on YYE so i felt i had to pick a tutorial that intimidates me. SEASICK!
With the man himself Andre B!

Some of you may be able to do this trick so i don’t want you to feel i didn’t do anything for your FS.

IF you can perform SeaSick your challenge is to use SeaSick in a barol roll combo using protusions to embelish your barol roll.

Basically throw SBM into sea sick into a barol roll sequence with the basic or advanced protrusion sequence in the video below, and bind. Or if you want to throw something more exotic feel free. Let’s try to be creative.

SEASICK & PROTRUSIONS

I hope this makes sense.

Just yesterday I was thinking to learn seasick! Time to learn some frontstyle tricks! Nice pick @AKYOYOMIKE

sea sick was one of my favorites when I first started!

During the tutorial Andre mentions he’s going to do some rolls to shorten the string to make SeaSick easier, anyone else pick that up. Shorter string is easier to control. One way to make the string shorter in SBM is the protrusion video sequence in the yo trick tutorial.

This combo is a mixture of the past few weeks tricks with a Regen at the end.

Ok to be honest im getting no where with seasick. Makes me sick! Protrusions are coming along nicely…i can hit the basic one as a repeater once in a while. Tried for the double protrusion but nothing yet.

TBH i am taking part in the senior citizen section of Scales and I’ve been focusing on trying to get my routine cleanly on video. I have 25 cool versions with at least one mistake. Video is due Friday so i hope to figure out sea sick then.

Scales registration for you senior citizens is still open. No actual rules just a video under one min. It would be awesome if anyone else wanted to join… i am throwing 3 tricks i learned from TaW in my combo. If nothing else please check it out… let me know if you can name the tricks i used from TaW.

Video due Friday midnight. Seniors air on Scales youtube channel sat 7pm.
