looking at YYE site, are the only options in stock the deep or deeper state? Any thoughts between the two for modern responsive?
i love both of them for modern responsive. they’re both really good for stalls, flips, varials, etc. deep state is more narrow, fits way better in the pocket, deeper state has a little wider catch zone so its a little easier to catch.
the main difference I find between them in play is the deep state shoots moons a little bit better, the deeper state has just a smidge more kickback which makes it just a little harder to control.
This is the way… Both!
deep state better
put brass SEs in and it’s the goat for modern responsive
The struggle to not pick up one or both of the D’ States is real, and near daily lol.
I have both and can’t decide which is better as I love them both. One is narrower but can put side effects on it…mine has spikes for pull starts. Deeper State has a slightly wider catch area. Both are great moon shooters too.
I’ve played both, stalls are easier on the deep state for me.
The loss of side effects (maybe to keep pricing down?) was a bummer. I think the intent of being more of a hybrid responsive and partial unresponsive is definitely manifested well in the Deeper State as V2, but like a few others above, I slightly prefer the Deep State – and it truly is a close call, they are both very good.
I also have both and I’d say it fully depends on your play style. If you’re enjoying getting the Yoyo back to your hand with a tug after doing somewhat longer 1A tricks the Deeper State will be your jam. If you more leaning towards 0A (stalls, regens, flips, varials, shoot the moon) I’d say go for the Deep State (preferably with a greased up bearing). As said many times before both are a modern responsive blast but that would be the distinction I have found for myself. If you have the means I’d recommend getting both though. They are distinctive enough and both have proven to be absolute evergreens.
I have a Pay it Forward out with both the Deep and Deeper States in it. They have been modified to run a Narrow SPEC C bearing. They run dry and rely solely on the pads for response. Check out the thread and if it interests you… give them a try. In stock form both States will play differently. These manage very well to be very responsive while still being forgiving enough for a LOT of string play.
Agree on this, I don’t have brass any more but these are the heavy-ish side effects per my weight tests?
Still prefer the OG Deep State, really (above is my absolute favorite nickel/copper swap), but I respect the v2. There needs to be a Deepest State v3 on this one.. Mister One Drops
I love my Deep States for MR play. String tricks on slim throws is where it’s at for me as a Boomer. One of my Deeper States is now set up unresponsive and now I like it lol. I really do wish the Deeper’s had side effects. I mean… the Deeper is slim’ish. Anyone trying to decide on which on to get, get both, play both. They are cheap enough and hold value well.
Yeah any heavy SE is good, the theory for this for me is that heavier center weight is good because the yo-yo can flip easier when stalled, which is nice for kickflips. However, materials like plastic and wood are better because they’re super light.
