Mk1 Yoyos & Lord of the Rings™

Wow, this has gone a long way!

It really has! I got out one of each of my designs/releases so far, including prototypes, and it’s up to 7 yoyos :flushed:
Granted, this is someone elevated by the current rotation of 3 prototypes.

After the Converge (with OPYOYOS!) there’s something new arriving, hopefully later this year:

just read this thread. the converge looks SICK. I LITARALLY CAN NOT WAIT!! how many of them do you plan on putting in stock? do you take holds? when is the desired release date?
Edit: that proto looks sick : )

The Converge will be releasing here on YoyoExpert in a couple weeks. There will be about 30 of them available.

Special news today! @EOS44 joined Mk1, more accurately months ago, but it took a long time for the mail to arrive.

I’ve long looked up to him in the throwers community, and he’s the artist behind a lot of recent Mk1 logo and graphics work.

@EOS44 is the funk phenomenon! Not from this planet.:sunglasses:

I’m so excited to be working with him, for real.

There’s a lot of empty plastic containers awaiting their yoyos.

The stickers came out really cool.

I like the cross section incorporated in that logo. :+1:

Ooo. I hadn’t seen that until you pointed it out. I agree. Very original and neat.

@EOS44 came up with that while he was designing the logo. It’s so clever and it fits perfectly.

But that isn’t the cross section of that particular throw, right?

It’s the cross section of the prototype Exia, just with the bearing/response area glossed over.

Converge. Two special colorways. Dropping tomorrow here at YYE. Both are fades, picking up right where the Umbra/Diffraction left off. The blue is very subtle (my favorite iteration of the blue fade) and the red/(purple?) is a bit less subtle, depending on the light.

Mk1 Exia

Max (44.gundam), the main tutorial creator on Mk1, came up with the general idea for this yoyo when I was soliciting ideas from the team. The first working title was “Gundam”, which wasn’t going to work, of course, but luckily there’s a huge wealth of Gundam lore to draw on. The angular appearance of those really big robots informed the design, though the outer wing is rounded and smooth to keep things comfortable. It’s a bit like a bimetal version of the Diffraction, though a bit wider, a bit smaller in diameter, and considerably more powerful.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Mk1 team has been favoring the Exia recently.

We’re very close to 1,000 followers. Super excited.

This is my “5a approved” personal copy. It’s seen some things but still going strong. Production Exias won’t have the dings or scratches.

Also, yes, it’ll be coming to YoyoExpert!

You can thank @YoYoExpertGarrett for recommending the Diffraction 2 to André all that time ago. Every time he takes a photo of one of my designs it’s like a present, for my eyes.

It looks awesome! I’ve really wanted to try a diffraction, but a bimetal diffraction will work perfectly for me haha. Is it 6061 or a 70 metal?

The Exia is constructed from 7068 aluminum alloy and stainless steel.
