Standard yoyo that requires a blast and no polish with a standard pc application. 2 hours or so depending on what pc gets used, cook times vary from 10 to 20 minutes.
For those who like to see all the steps in the process here is the Warrior Chief prior to adding the pink with just the turquoise over the matte blackā¦
That looks pretty boss in itself right there!
Awsome! If only you could do more of those Polish Splashes.
I saw that!
Iād make an offer before it gets to me. Chances are Iām going to want to keep when it gets here.
Oddly enough I received no offers so I guess Iām safe to ship it back. Iām back in town tomorrow and your response is most definitely set by now so it will be on itās way Thursday.
Some pics of the Flying Hut with the flat ano blue over the splash. Not satisfied with the blue as its a little washed out in some areas. Going in for a redo.
Thatās quiteā¦ mesmerizing. I still donāt understand how youāre able to get the splashes looking so great.
Its pretty good but just a little off. There just has been no sure fire way to accomplish the splash on a yoyo with powder coat at least easily. There are a bunch of different ways to go about doing it but each one has its own drawback.
There will be pics up of the stripping process as well. I know you might like that.
Hereās a couple pics of the stripping process.
First pic is of the stripper going to work on the powder
Second pic is about 4 minutes of the stripper on the powder.
Third pic is of the Hut prior to powder, perfect! Gets a nice warm water and soap toothbrush bath to remove the stripper. Prior to new powder application it will get a hardcore degreasing and clean up.
Gods I want a Hut again.
That looks pretty much exactly like when I used Acetone to remove paint lol. Itās a very cool effect, and much easier/less mess than removing anodize. And I also read you can use Acetone to strip off paint.
For a while Iāve been mulling these powder works over. Theyāre so awesome, and even these ones Mullicabob re-does look pretty good to me But Iād been pondering in fact exactly the opposite to this statement above. Iād been thinking it should be possible to produce really interesting throws by using acetone/methanol/isopropanol as a solvent, or perhaps as the medium for a suspension of powder, to add the powder not remove it. If you utilize acetoneās evaporative abilities you should be able to deposit something like these powders in quite unique ways. This would involve creating some solution of powder (I really feel like maybe a suspension might be cool too) and then heating the throw, and running the solvent over it. At the right temperatures this would rapidly boil off the solvent and leave you with crazy cool powder patterns. I donāt know if this is possible AND PLEASE DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME! HEAT AND SOLVENT SHOULD NEVER BE MIXED UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU"RE DOING! However, for someone with mad skills like Mullicabob I have the feeling the possibilities could be endless.
Paint and powder are very similar so Iām sure some results with stripping via acetone will yield results. I have not messed around with it mainly because what I use is so effective no need for anything else.
Whyād you strip the powder?
what are you using for the stripper again?
Have you been watching through my garage window?
That blue splash that was done on your Hut is in fact from a solution. This product must be 100% dry prior to curing if you want typical powder results. Now I have had it in the oven before it was dry on some test pieces and I can say dramatic is in fact an excellent description. If you like bubbles and hole looking formations that have become discolored from what you were expecting then your in luck.
I do see what your talking about though and you have me thinking about my additive as perhaps a usefull tool for splashes and the like. I have some serious thoughts suddenly.
I no likey the blue >:(
yoyospirit uses Acetone for stripping paint and I use something else for stripping powder. I really prefer not to say what it is over the air waves due to hazardous properties. It is an OTC item though.
I want a Flying Hut.
