Long shot - help me resurrect my first yoyo

Hey, all. I recently dug out my very first yoyo, a Superyo Wildcat that I bought from a demonstrator who came to my school back in ~2000. Back then, I quickly moved on to various bearing axles, but now that I mostly play 0A, I was hoping to get it up and running again.

However, its wooden axle sleeve disintegrated sometime in the intervening years. Does anyone know if replacements are available, or if any other manufacturer’s parts are interchangeable?

Wooden axle sleeves are hard to find, none are currently available commercially that I am aware of. A couple of years ago a couple of people here were making them, though I don’t recall who they were. Perhaps one of them will see this.

Looking back I think @yoyospirit was one of them. He hasn’t been real active since earlier this year.

There is a new-in-package Superyo Wildcat on the auction site right now for $20. I have also seen 3d printer files for axles for other yoyos, but I don’t know what the Super Wildcat uses.

Haha I still have email notifications turned on at least.

If you can provide the dimensions I could probably make ya a few axles.

@Shirtpants I was thinking about buying a NOS one and grabbing the axle, but not being sure what conditions it was stored in, it seems a gamble. Maybe that’s overly cautious, idk

@yoyospirit That would be rad! I’ll break out the calipers and see what I can figure out
