Let's talk Mechanical Keyboards

Feels firm. The plate is 4mm thick so theres no flex. I have box navies in it with box brown springs. They feel lighter than box jades and still have a really thick click.

MT3 /dev/tty is one of my favorite keycap sets. Those bright, colored modifier keys really pop. It just looks fantastic to type on. :+1:

Good choice with the MT3 profile caps, one of my absolute favorites. Box navies are awesome too, the thick click is very nice, ive got a set in my drawer. The box clicks are easily the best clicky switches around

I just received this Logitech G Hub Pro keyboard. It is so much nicer than the keyboard it replaced.

Speaking of keyboards, I’m in the process of selling my Hyper X Alloy Origins 60 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/275716497670

I picked up a custom 65 at a gaming convention and just stopped using it.

Box Navies and Pale Blues are some of my fave switches…they annoy the hell out of my coworkers hehe. That Titan is a beautiful board.

I just bought a CannonKey Balance which is a difficult layout to find. I missed out on the M0lly board and the Balance seems even better so I’m excited to build it. I also don’t have to wait 3 years for a GB! My friend just got his Bahrnob if any of you are familiar with that fiasco.

Though this board fully built will probably put me in the hole $1k once it’s all said and done

I just started using this one today. It’s a NuPhy Halo 96 with Rose Glacier (tactile) switches and MT3 Dasher keycaps. I am having a hard time with the bizarre position of the nav cluster keys, and it doesn’t help that I don’t have them in Row 0 profile. But I love the switches and keycaps, and it makes a very nice sound.

thats a really nice looking board! MT3 is one of my favorite profiles. i’ve also heard good things about Nuphy keyboards from a buddy of mine. he customized one for his GF and was blown away by the build quality

This is to trigger all the artisan haters.

I finally finished my Balance build. Box Pale Blues for the numpad, Box Jades for everything else. Brass plate and Canvas Manfred caps.

Time to annoy my coworkers :smiling_imp:

I didn’t know we had such topic!

(don’t zoom in, yes, it needs cleaning badly ;))

Since I’ve built my first Planck (that’s the 4th one) I’m rarely using anything else. Used mostly for fiction writing, with custom keymap on second layer that makes writing dialogues a lot more comfortable (easy access to " ’ - ? and so on). Using Halo True if I remember correctly, but I’ve got everything ready for another build on Holy Pandas.

The tab key on my mechanical keyboard broke. I just have a couple of pre-built ones so no extra keys. Anyone have an extra tab key they’d sell me or trade for…string? Counterweight? Yoyo? I’ll probably glue it this weekend, but that probably won’t last too long even if I can get it back on after gluing. Is there a place I can order a single key? Ebay doesn’t seem to promising so far.

Is ortho easy to use?

Just got my first (non “gamer”) proper mechanical keyboard

a Keychron V3 iso, which I have put mx-silents into, the stabs came generously lubed, it sounds and feels great

love typing with it at work
just need to get some nicer pbt keycaps for xmas

Yes. It takes a few days to get used to, but once you’re over the hump it’s great.

Does it reduce wrist strain?

think if you are worried about wrist strain:
then u may be better off getting an Alice style keyboard
and/or a wrist rest

It does because your fingers do less lateral motion.

Interesting!

I love a good split board! My whole journey down this rabbit hole started because I would use the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboards and I would break one every year (the spacebar).

My daily driver at home right now is an Ergodox EZ, which is both ortholinear and split. I highly recommend it. One of the best things about it is that it’s a pretty attractive package even for enthusiasts but no assembly is required.
