Let’s talk craft beer (for those legally able to drink)

I’ll check with ours sales rep. We’re pretty small but have started distributing a little outside of Texas

They ship to Ma. $20 for 2 bottles.

Popped a pretty rare one at a release this past weekend. Absolutely delicious.

Here’s a couple pictures of my brew house and cellar.

Just picked up some treehouse for the holidays. Went for their seasonal variety case, few different stouts to cellar, and a 750 of their farmhouse ale. :beers: :beers:

My godfather is really into craft beer and managed to get some Heady Topper that we split today :open_mouth: previously I’d only had a sip about five years back when someone brought a pack to a White Elephant gift exchange at work. It was really, really good. But maybe overhyped at this point? I swear I’ve had beers that taste just like it before, it’s like a standard hazy IPA. But regardless, it was really cool and now I have more incentive to order a pack of Pliny the Elder (or Younger, whatever was easily available on their website) while I’m out in CA so I can send some to my godfather!

Also got a Kentucky craft six-pack variety pack and glass from West Six Brewint from the same person for Christmas! So far I’ve tried the “Witness the Citrus” which was really nice, I think I preferred it to the Heady Topper

Wow, that’s a lot I’ve never seen before.

Yeah you’re not wrong, back when lawsons and alchemist had all the hype there were so few breweries doing anything even close to what they were doing. Now you can get a comparable NEIPA in just about any town from a local brewery. I still pick up a couple packs of focal banger and heady topper whenever I’m in VT though, they’re not as easy to find in MA.

Definitely not a craft beer but one of my favorites.
Guinness Foreign Extra Stout.

For actual craft beer I like Castle Danger cream ale, brewed on the shores of Lake Superior. You can buy in cans at the store but it’s not the same as you get on the premises.

Forgot, their stout is good too.

Less than a three hour drive for me seems like I should come check it out

Pliny’s the same way. It’s still fantastic and I miss it but you can find pretty comparable things easily these days. Blind Pig is also Russian River’s best IPA.

I was considering picking up some of that with the Pliny so that cements it. I’m sure my uncle/godfather will be pleased and I’m happy to take advantage of my California address while I still have it haha.

That was kind of what i figured, it was and is a great example of a hazy NEIPA and was probably the first big breakout example of the style, but nowadays those aren’t super hard to find. Ex: I think I actually enjoyed the “witness the citrus” hazy IPA from Kentucky more than the heady topper haha.

That was his goal actually! To put together a six pack of things that were hard/impossible to find outside of Lexington/Kentucky. I just finished it up tonight and I’d have to put my ranking as:

  1. Country Boy Witness the Citrus — exactly what I think of when I think about NEIPA’s/hazy IPAs. I need to sample some good hyper local NEIPAs to say for sure but my impression is that this one would certainly hold its own in any sort of taste test.
  2. Debaser Hazy IPA — all around solid NEIPA example. Delicious.
  3. West Six Pennyrile Pale Ale — Pale Ale’s were the first style I fell in love with. While no longer my favorite (that spot is shared by NEIPAs and Sours), they still hold a special place in my heart. This beer is a great example of a Pale Ale executed extremely well.
  4. Citra A$$ Down — excellent example of a West Coast Double IPA. Potent and hoppy, but dangerously drinkable. While I prefer the citrus flavor NEIPA’s tend to have, this is a super solid example of the IPA style from the opposite coast.
  5. Don’t You Forget About Me — classic example of a West coast IPA. Good but not my favorite. The only one in the six pack not from Kentucky.
  6. Monnix Beer Co IPA — west coast IPA style. Good, but not amazing. It does get extra points from me for being a Louisville native beer haha.

I know those guys!!!

just kidding

Had these 2 and liked them both. Don’t think I’ve had a Märzen before? Rich and floral with a touch of warmth. Something about it reminds me of a gold Chimay I used to drink.

The Stone was fruity, very rich and hoppy and had a nice heat as it should at 12.5%.

It’s a cold, windy, rainy night here in my town. Here’s some comfort.
