Unfortunately not because of vibe.
I need a Cerakote coated offstring yoyo made out of purpleheart wood and it has to be able to take FH caps and use an MR85 bearing can you guys do this
I think you would need to be more specific about your requirements.
Your post was kind of vague…
Oh man. I totally spaced for yet another drop that I probably wasn’t going to get anyway…
I should probably start putting these in my calendar
I wasn’t looking to buy this time, but for anything that I think will be hard to get, I set a calendar event 5 mins. before so I can be fully logged in.
And it will be like ‚Aaand, they’re gone…‘
Why only 30 of a more popular model? Harder to do Cerakote on, limited supply of that color, just cuz? I’m just curious no hate nor complaints! I enjoy the Top Deck and I’d definitely try and cop this but it seems pretty far fetched being so limited
God damn only 30?
nooo…
Been out of the game for a while. Shoulder pain. Slowly working myself back in to regular throwing again…
Got an email from One Drop about the pink cerakotes. I had to get me a pink Diorama. I loved the Pano. Super hyped.
Welcome back. You will love the cerakote Diorama. They have such a cool feel.
What does cerakote feel like?
I’ve had some Cerakote where the finish is smoother (white) and some where it feels like actual sandpaper (colorshift).
I’ve Cerakoted firearms and it feels a lot like my white Taijitu, which I’m told is the same finish as “moonrock” that YoyoFriends have used. If you’re not familiar with that it feels like, well, ceramic. Like a finely sanded ceramic surface, with maybe 2000 or 3000 grit sandpaper. It’s smooth, but not like blasted and anodized smooth. Almost silky.
Bro, I’ve got to get one of these
These are I believe the special cases. All the other ones Ive had have been very smooth and yes moonrock like. But the finish on my diorama has also developed. The catch zone has become very smooth but the cup still has a texture to it.
The feel of the finish is one of the biggest reasons I keep “accidentally” buying more cerakote yoyos.
Other than the weekender, are there other non-OD yoyos that use cerakote? I can think of some other companies that use OD, and would love to see their yoyos in cerakote. (sudo, diptych, mcmo, etc)
Hydrangea had a few going around, YYF has done some cerakote experiments in the past as well. I think TP has done some cerakote stuff as well with the Douskas, though I’m unsure if that’s a microarc-based anodization.
Cerakote can be tricky tho. There’s a lot of work in the prep, if you want to do it right, as well as details in application and curing. So the results can either be silky smooth and incredibly durable, or brittle and flakey. I’ve read about yoyos from a few different brands with a “moonrock” type finish that flaked off or chipped, or led to tolerance issues in the axle taps or bearing posts.
Moonrock is Micro Arc Oxidation, not Cerakote (to my knowledge.)
There is a lot of “mao” coated products, not just yoyo, coming out of China lately. Hence different yoyo “companies” providing the same white finish.
