When you put it together if you have a little trouble with response add a drop of lube or rub some chapstick on the end of your string. Metal axles can be a little slippy on response without.
Great color choice!
Nice print!
This one uses a 5 mm x 20 mm axle, mostly because I burned through that 50 pack of 4 mm axles I had embarrassingly fast while prototyping.
Werther’s Yo-Riginal.
Files available for anyone who feels like making themselves an oblong yo-yo that your grandma would have kept in her purse and handed out when she needed you to stop talking for a minute.
I’ve got a challenge for you… a Ninja Star shaped yoyo w/ a Finger Spin Dimple instead of a hole.
(Of course, you don’t have to, I just thought you might enjoy a challenge* )
I tried to do a gear shaped yoyo which isn’t far off from ninja star, and the string kept getting caught on the teeth unless your throw was 100% perfection.
That being being said it was early on into my design “career” and I’ve made a lot of yo-yos since, so it might be worth trying again. I’ll give it a shot.
Carbon fiber composite ORK for @Captrogers please do watch your knuckles, the response can be…. Aggressive compared to the cork and htpla versions.
The battery doors on my Yomega RPM broke awhile ago but now that I have a printer I am able to fix it.
This is The Dork, my follow up to The Ork. It’s smaller and slightly less angry. The face is smoother, and the glasses and teeth are slightly embossed to provide a more consistent response. It has thick rimmed glasses and thick rims to improve comfort on catch. Files are posted below in case anyone wants to make one.
Dude this is so good!
Holy cow this is AWESOME! How does it play? Man I wish I was better with my printer. Nothing I have printed looks anything this smooth.
It demands a little more accuracy than the Ork, because it’s thinner and more pocketable but it’s also a lot gentler.
I can give you some tips on calibrating your printer if you want.
Printed a file i got from @TryCatchThrow turned out pretty good now that I figured out infill to get the weight right
A reimagining of the classic Silver Bullet as a wooden fixie. Shown here 3d printed in Linden Tree wood filament.

That was kinda the vibe I was going for!
