Learning on a higher end yoyo?

Thanks for the tip about cleaning it, I’ll try to keep that in mind and research more about the best ways to clean them. And also thanks for the info about the centering effect, I didn’t even know about DS and Pixel bearings. I’m going to have to try those out sometime.

this is crazy yall pick up a yoyo and go outside

use whatever yoyo you want.

Preferably two of them and do 3A.

Still too many skill issues

On the topic of skill: age or seniority in no way imparts skill or knowledge. I’ve known plenty of absolutely useless folks who had similar potential as me but didn’t see it through at the same age. This applies in everything. Personally I’m trash at YoYo and I’ve got years on most of the folks in this thread. Verify the skill or keep talking the talk but folks won’t respect it until you can show it.

Hi, self proclaimed expert here.

I was the 2017 US National 5A champion and have been competing since 2003.
I’ve placed top 5 in every division at the national level except 1A although I do have a top 3 California state 1A title under my belt. Been throwing since 98 and was involved with the Bandai/THP boom of the 90s and have been active in the community with decades of videos and trick post to show for it. Been a community leader with running clubs since 2005, active in the yoyo scenes in Northern Cali and So-Cal since then also. But this isn’t about me, its about the statement right? Just since we were talking about justifications for knowledge in the thread I felt I should throw my numerous cards into the proverbial poker table of this thread.

Ill say this: In my experience, unless a bearing is straight up defective or is in need of maintenance, there really is hardly any benefit from one bearing to another when it comes to play. What it comes down to is preference as some will have a slightly different feel, maybe a different sound even that can come to ones liking, but in the end, its a spinning piece of metal that helps your yoyo spin longer. I posted a 3 minute one throw before, and my more recent 2min30 second one throw earlier in the thread to show the point that “spin time” during tricks and whatnot comes down to technique and knowing your yoyo more than any special bearing aide would provide. I think players should feel free to try different bearings, but at the end of the day, no one bearing will be better than another.

But hey, what do I know?

Buy a shutter, I’m years in and it’s still capable with tricks

That was quite a lengthy preamble to drop some base level knowledge!

Anyone who’s been throwing for a year should come to that conclusion.

That’s like someone giving a class a 20 minute lecture on their astrophysics and theoretic math qualifications, research, degrees and awards.

And then proceeding to state the 2+2=4 and walking out the door.

Sometimes that kind of response is needed to get the point across!

Don’t worry, I will drop some next level yoyo knowledge in the future

Alright now riddle me this smart man

Transaxle or Bearings?

I agree haha

I think now modern yoyos are just great u can get a 20 to 200 yoyo and tricks can be done on both really thr has not been a bad yoyo lately from big and snall companies but i do love premium throws i mean most my tricks i do either my aster gtr orbital gtx all perform almost the same way just to me of course each theee amazing throws have differences in weight shape width i use same bearings on all 3 btw i prefer konkaves

I seen those throws and alot of good reviews same as watieboo yoyo sometimes those cheaper bi are good spintastic monkey is a good bimetal

Out of curiosity, I pulled my Magicyoyo N8 out of storage. It appears to be a bi-metal. It is a very nice throw. It is better than my skill level. (Which isn’t saying much.) It is certainly inexpensive on the big box store in the cloud.

Obviously fixed axle specifically wood

He can’t answer this, he’s not even a world champion.

N8 is not a bi metal

Its mono😏

The N8 looks like a bi-metal and it throws well and only costs $15. It is also smaller than average.

Still great for learning.

PS. I always knew it wasn’t a bi-metal…

Just to add. My friend tyler learned on a recess little league i let him use, but his first throw was a Sengoku Orochi. That’s about as high end as it’s gets and he’s doing great almost a year later. Already doing his own combos and whatnot.
