Anyone try to make a yoyo belt holster out of kydex? I’ve seen the leather types. Probably not good for an aluminum anodized yoyo because it could scratch it but may play around with making something for a stainless steel or titanium throw.
The biggest issue is finding a common physical characteristics that can be used to grasp the throw in a pinching springing clam shell manner. So if a 2 piece kydex clam shell with a rubber adjustable hinge, like a thick rubber washer that can be compressed with a centralized screw…
Then I just get tired of thinking what throw I would put in that contraption, and I just put 2 throws in my bag and go.
I’d recommend a cerakote One Drop to prevent scratching.
Kydex would be ok for a ‘specific’ yo-yo…… but that’s about it.
My EDC constantly changes, so it certainly would have close to zero value for me.
Various yo-yo holders have the common ability to accommodate a variety of yo-yos, making them much more convenient.
But…. Let’s say your EDC stays the same for a long stretch> than a yo-yo specific kydex holster would work just fine.
….Most of my Tactical Handguns have custom molded kydex holsters, normally with 3 rubber tension adjustable spacers along the bottom edge. I love them. Kydex is excellent for knives too.
Cool idea for sure…
All excellent points. Guess it would have to be a yoyo you carried all the time to make it worth while. Similar reason I recently made paracord holsters instead of leather. Universal fit.
