He was trying to win is what I meant.
And he DID win! What the hell are you talking about? You’re saying Jensen is a more genuine person because he lost and Anthony is trying to look cool by winning?
To the dude that asked for proof yoyo kids are the worst, there ya go.
I was saying people are giving Jensen publicity because he goofed of, I haven’t seen a thread about Rojas yet. So goofing off did a better job at generating hype.
Then learn how to use your own generations stupid internet slang better.
I’m sorry, I thought try hard meant someone tried hard.
I wonder if all you people that think it was cool that Jensen acted like a clown at bac would think it was cool and funny if all the competitors just acted like he did for their performances… since its “just a toy” and “its OK for people to mess around like that during a competition” like some of you had said. I seriously doubt that would be “cool and funny”…
As many have said, it’s doubtful he went into it planning to goof off. He missed a few tricks and said “screw it”. There’s a difference.
Whoops, I let myself get pulled in for a moment there. goes back to popcorn
I have been following this one. Actually, it is one of the few threads where people disagree, but both sides actually have equally good arguments. That rarely happens.
But, I think Jensen will do what he wants, and you all are free to watch him do that, or not. I doubt that those who were not amused, will totally stop watching in the future, based on one freestyle performance.
Clearly some of you view competition yo-yo as a true sport, and others see it as just as a form of artistic expression, where even in a competition setting, it’s okay to express yourself any way you want to within the rules. I really don’t have a problem with either perspective. I have to admit that if I saw my favorite player on stage, I’d be geared up to see him “bring it.” If he didn’t, I might be disappointed that he didn’t seem to try for the big win. But, as a true fan, I’d be cool with just seeing him give what he wanted to give that day.
My favorite player doesn’t take the stage anymore in that way, but I’m just sayin’. And, any information about whether he planned that performance, or if it turned into something else, is pure speculation. There is no proof he didn’t give his best on that day. Some days we have more to give than others, and that’s okay.
This may be the wisest thing I’ve read in this thread. Possibly even this forum.

Didn’t say that once. That’s still not proof. Try harder.
Well said!
why?
Meh, why not?
he basically said nothing in that video, then chucked a perfectly good yoyo in the puddle…I probably could have done that…just sayin’ :-\
I’ve also made a video putting a playable Northstar to garbage. I’m just wondering what was the link with the topic
I could care less what someone decides to do on stage with their toys.
Its their freestyle.
He said it was broken in the vid.
whatever, that wasn’t my point
Many comps do this exactly. give past winners the option to do demos not judged. However bac has set it up so all past winners get time on stage judged. That is really a gripe to take up with the organizers if that bugs you. I don’t know if it has changed at this point but years ago when I was talking to the organizers at bac I asked if the seeded players take away from the number coming out of prelims.(Might have been compulsory’s at the time.) They said no. They are on top because most of the time they don’t even know if they are going to show or use the seed, if they do show up.
I mean if it was the other way around it could end up at some point being nothing but past winners with no chance to come out of prelims. That would seem like a flawed plan.
