All my other yoyos were almost silent but this one is MEGA LOUD. I cleaned it with paint thinner and it tripled the spin time, but it also started making this loud noise: is this normal
It varies a lot per bearing… but if you want a bearing as quiet as possible, don’t run it totally dry… try adding a little bit of thin lube and then spinning out any excess with compressed air.
Some bearings are naturally louder than others though, there’s quite a bit of variance out there.
There are many various factors that could impact the sound of the bearing. If there any asperities created due to lack of lubrication, heat, or impact…the sound could change or increase. The most important factor for proper bearing function is lubrication.
A dry bearing will generally screech. Add a drop of lube and it will quiet down considerably.
