They’re heavier? Brass is more dense than aluminum. It may add weight to the yoyo where it is needed.
WildCat23: yoyospirit:I’m one of those people lol This is why I prefer yoyos with longer axles, there’s less of a chance for the yoyo to strip. Yoyojam used to use brass inserts in their metal yoyos too, I wish they’d go back to that. I really appreciate companies like Spin Dynamics and One Drop who make sure there’s less of a chance of the yoyo stripping.
Brass is softer than aluminum…
Wow, I guess you do learn something new everyday, so why are brass inserts more commonly used then?
It also expands significantly when being machined making it extremely difficult to machine properly.
All in all, I really don’t get the brass insert stuff.
nah, i know not to over tighten my throws. sometimes when i open and close my throw like 50 times in 1 day, i get a little scared, cuz maybe i might be a little bit aggressive. like if i get 20 knots while making my own trick. like yesterday, i tried to do cool stuff in the wrist mount, i got over 10 knots in 10 minutes
Buy a pair of tweezers from the dollar store and use them to get your knots out. It takes less time that screwing/unscrewing the yo-yo, and it doesn’t put any stress on threads.
I’ve stripped a dm2 and a yyf monster and now when I tighten my chief I’m super careful
Iv seen some people NEVER unwind their throws and just unwind the string and but it on, im kind of considering starting this, and using tweezers for knots
