Introducing The Acorn From Slestak75

I think we are going to discover new yo-yo science here. The way I see it… manufacturers and people like rim weight but the scores on these rims remove rim weight… however, the purposeful and nature-imitating design of the grooves actually adds some mystical mathematical equationry to the mix, thus channeling minute levels of cosmic energy through the channels imbuing almost magical qualities into every throw. That’s how I see it anyway.

There is a power in whimsy and fun that sometimes gets passed over in exchange for mathematically calculated performance.

This plays like an old school unresponsive versus something engineered to squeeze an extra half a second of spin time, but in my opinion there’s nothing wrong with that. When I’m designing a yoyo if I have to make a trade off between fun and performance I’m choosing fun.

Any squirrel who touches it will start glowing gold, so best not to let that happen. It’s power is for mankind alone!

Wow!!! These are both incredible. The Acorn feels light and fluffy and plays great. Incredibly fun to throw. It’s light so it doesn’t fatigue but it doesn’t feel light.

The Mini… I’m going to have to ease into that relationship… mini isn’t aware of its own strengths. It comes back to your hand with a terrible vengeance if you are even slightly disrespectful.:rofl::rofl:

I LOVE them!!! Thank you so much Andy this is just outstanding!!!

The mini is very snappy! It’s why I like it more lol but that’s why everyone has different taste I guess.

The full size is interesting because it’s 64 grams! It just feels really light in play!

I want to preface this by saying… I haven’t found an Organic that really spoke to me. There are so many I haven’t tried… but I am loving the Acorn. It feels like a big marshmallow on the string but it’s quite capable as well. @AudreySickburn you took a gag and turned it into what turned out to be a pretty darn great throw. Way to go!!!

That’s because these are the only true “organics” :joy:

The mini can bite if your not paying attention

Yes you must treat the mini like Mother Nature :joy: Thou shalt not mess around or thou shalt find out. I sacrifice my knuckles on the alter of the great acorn goddess.

I’m not sure I want to lessen that in a v2 imo, I like the character of it. I am beholden somewhat to public opinion though lol.

I would love to have a v2 that’s unresponsive but it can still bite me

Now a v2 that recesses the pads for a lemon bearing I could get behind.

Maybe in brass or bronze to distinguish it from the responsive version without changing the weight.

Now if you toss a lemon bearing in it right now it’s like 80% unresponsive but if you are even a little off in your throw it’s gonna smack you in the face.

Si I’m all for that

I was thinking about beefcaking 2 standard bearings in there. That’d be 5mm. Will need a different axle obviously.
