Interesting Questions!

Why do people like wide gaps in yoyos and low wall, and what is so good about NSK bearings and Fancy bearings in general? Oh yeah and one more thing… I use magic yoyo bearings, string and magic yoyo in general for some context.

You haven’t been yoyoing long, have you.

A lot of it comes down to preference but in general wider gaps make it easier to do tricks without snagging on the string and having the yoyo come back up unexpectedly during a trick. People also tend to like thicker strings lately and a wider gap makes thicker strings more practical without becoming responsive or snaggy.

Low walls help with minimizing how much of the string touches the sides of the yoyo which can help reduce tilt during tricks. Usually low wall yoyos also have a more flared out shape and are wider making them easier to catch on the string, especially for big, flashy zoning tricks.

I’ve never tried an NSK bearing so idk on that one but I’ve heard good things. Fancier bearings in general can be helpful to an extent depending on how they’re designed. There are many debates on the best bearing but each has their pros and cons and it largely comes down to preference. In general, curved or concave bearings minimize how much the string touches the walls of the yoyo since it centers the string in the gap away from the walls. I don’t have a super huge preference on bearings and enjoy flat and concave bearings for different reasons but some people have stronger preferences and it’s really up to you what you like in terms of yoyo setup.

Hope this helps!

How long do you have to be throwing to ask a question without being ridiculed? Should you make fun of people who are getting started? Maybe they just don’t understand why your Chinese made yoyos are better than MagicYoyo?

@sleeper1 I see @Sgt1yoyo1 has given you thoughtful answers. I hope if you have more questions you will be treated better.

Thanks for the kind words! One thing… <Magic yoyo is from china so I use chinese yoyo

Most yoyos we are using today are made in China. There is nothing wrong with Migicyoyo or yoyos made in China. Some people want to think theirs are better even though they may be from the same factory. My first yoyo was a Magicyoyo and I still enjoy it.

helps with stacking strings in the gap for more complex mounts and such

what @Sgt1yoyo1 said, way easier to do complex tricks without the yoyo tilting off axis, especially during horizontals

they tend to have either a different form of string centering that’s preferred, or they spin smoother/quieter. it’s all preference, no need to worry about those, almost ever.

judging by this, i’m assuming you’re a beginner. no need to freak out over all this new info, but i’m glad you’re asking questions! you’ve only hit the tip of the yoyo iceberg, have fun

One Drop is one of the mist prominent American made yoyos.

Nah. I just like small gaps and high wall. I don’t really have a lot of pocket money to spend on yoyo so I get magic yoyo stuff

I have strong feelings for the guts of a yo-yo. I feel like you can take the best performance yo-yo and put a bad bearing with the wrong string and it will completely ruin the experience. Bearing maintenance, regardless of type, is super important.

A fine bearing combined with the proper thickness and material sting is everything!

DS or The Atmos concave have treated me very nicely. I use kitty normal almost exclusively. I’ll put bad wolf nylon in for a super premium feel. It’s so nice on the fingers.

Its sounds like you may be looking for a responsive yoyo. They typically have higher walls and a tighter gap.

I see what you are saying. I like dry, clean long spinning bearings especially gold because they look cool and spin long.

I like unresponsive and responsive. However, I am looking for unresponsive yoyos that are small and have a small gap

Check out the Magicyoyo T9.

I use the n11, might look at that t9

Edit-The T9 IS ART. It’s organic shaped, unresponsive, has a small gap and is 67 grams which is perfect weight for me

Wider gaps = more able to catch on the strings.
Im not entirely sure about the low walld but im pretty sure its for less friction.
For your string I haven’t used Magicyoyo string but im not sure its that good.

This is not really true. That’s more the catch zone of the Yoyo and the actual width of the Yoyo. Gap width is more about being able to have lots of string wraps around the bearing without snagging.

I used to throw thw T9 around a bit. I kinda like it.
