If you could only have one yo-yo, what would it be? And what makes that yo-yo better than the rest to you?
For me I would say the OD Deep State. It’s pocket friendly and smooth as glass.
Yoyofactory EDGE Beyond all the way!
Classic San Francisco era No Jive 3-in-1.
G2 BraSShee. Smooth, powerful, beautiful.
I don’t have any high-end woods (one day) but I think my answer is my Legend Wing because I would rather be really good with a wood responsive than cold metal unresponsive. Side note: I’m not very good at responsive.
I like yoyos. More importantly I just like yoyoing. If it’s a working yoyo, I’m good.
If I could only have one, it’d be a toss up between my 4mm YWET and trying to get @The_Machinist and @da5id to make a titanium Panorama which then I’d give an edge to the ti Pano being my one and only.
But I’m a 2a player
I have honestly been split on which of the two I prefer (almost 50/50) for a little over a year now. And atm ive been solely yoyoing with wood for the past month (the FAF challenge), of which last year I went from learning trapeze stalls to landing kickflips. I continued into March and a bit into April (I was finally landing kickflips at the end of Feb, and they are just soooo satisfying to land) until I finally got some inspiration to delve back into 1A. This month however, ill be honest; Im a little anxious to get into the flow of unresponsive yoyoing again. While I still love both styles, I love more being able to choose between them based on how I feel. I really am 50/50 biased towards either side I think.
If I were to land at a compromise yoyo, it would probably be the Ti-SB. I have it tuned responsive, and can land short Kwyj combos as well as do kickflips, but the 0A stuff is just so much more Zen on a wooden yoyo. But my preferred wood for 0A (a Spinworthy KNack) just will not do those longer spinning responsive combos.
But when I truly want to play 1A (less deliberate and more flow oriented), the Ti-SB is just too limited. If I had to pick my favorite 1A yoyo, it would probably be the Ti-Vayder. It just lands in a sweet spot of feel, size, and stability that allows me to land my hardest tricks and learn new ones. Otherwise I think the General-yo 5 Star is my favorite as it maxes out on the ‘feel’ category for me.
If I had to choose, it would have to be which one I had in hand atm.
Would be 100% cool with a No Jive or one of the recent eH’s.
Probably slim dunk, I like something that’s pocket sized and helps me work on my precision a little more.
Tbh I’ve been stuck on trips where I just have one beater yoyo, not something I would ever say is my favorite, and I was completely content because I got my fix off of it
One of my One Drop VTWOs; not sure which color though.
Chopsticks Gorilla
I refuse to even consider the possibility.
I would at least have to have one responsive and one unresponsive.
Responsive - First Base - I have better, more expensive responsive yoyos but I am comfortable with this one. Mainly because I can bang it up practicing floor tricks and not worry because it only cost $20. Much easier to walk the dog on concrete with this yoyo than to do it was something costing $70.
Unresponsive - TI Vader - Only because it is my most expensive yoyo.
for me it would be this one. Shortly after I got into fixed axle play I decided to learn how to make my own. Out of the 100+ that I’ve made in the past few years, this is the one that I keep returning to.
I agree, tough to narrow it down to one when there are drastically different styles.
For 1A, I’d say my Warhawk is still my favorite yoyo. It was my first bi-metal, and I love how it plays and how it feels. If I had to only have one yoyo, that’s probably the one.
For a fixie, my only wooden yoyo is my TMBR Turner, and I can’t imagine anything better.
Akita
Titanium Echelon. It’s my most played yoyo likely at this point, and I always enjoy it. It never gets old for me.
