I have an idea for a tri-metal yoyo, but have no idea if it’s good or how to make it. My idea is to have tungsten surrounded by titanium for the outer rings
You should start by looking at other tri metal yoyos like Trion Crash.
It’s gonna be a little guy
Tungsten is really heavy, and it’s hard and brittle making it difficult to machine.
What I’m reading is expensive.
I’m guessing your saying aluminum body, tungsten inner ring and a titanium outer ring? Hence the tri metal.
In theory that would work. Add a bunch of rim weight and protect the brittle tungsten a bit. You could probably do better going the tungsten covered in a Polly shell route as well.
Either way it would be an expensive YoYo to machine the rings for.
out of curiosity was there anything specific that drove your choice in tungsten? I’m completely ignorant and was wondering if there was a goal in using it specifically
I mean, I kinda wanted to use tungsten because it’s so heavy that I wouldn’t have to use much of it
Bi-metal yoyos are difficult enough to make into a quality product at a reasonable price. Why complicate it with a tri-metal design?
