I get what you mean. I think it’s been around for so long that familiarity breeds contempt sometimes.
I still think it has a long way to go before being in the underrated stage though because of the success of the WAngle

I might suggest that contestants win the yoyo for someone else! The contestants selection could be based on you setting the criteria or let them set their own criteria. You could require their selection to be a forum member or not. You could go so many ways with it and it’s nice because contestants are doing it for someone they think is deserving for whatever reason.
Or you could just draw out of a hat!
