This is cool! I’ve been afraid to try dying my cabal because i spoke to rain city’s dyer at worlds last year (Jeff Anderson) and he recommended not doing it because heat cycling it can cause the weight rings to loosen and or fall out, not fit right anymore… i need to practice dying more Delrin anyway, it needs heat and acetone doesn’t etch it. polycarbonate is really easy no heating required, just add a splash of acetone.

I was worried acetone would damage it so I opted for low and slow like I was smoking some brisket :joy:

This sounds awesome. I imagine this probably plays like a better Bumblebee. Anyone know where to source a 4mm wide MR85 bearing. I think the measurements would be 584mm. Google doesn’t seem think this exists but maybe I’m searching for the wrong dimensions.

Glen had them custom made, I haven’t found a conventional source for bearings of this measurement outside of his run.

This. And I’ve looked too. Extensively.

Highest I’ve been able to find commercially is 5x8x3

Found some from a New Zealand shop but the shipping is really expensive.

Stand corrected, just found 5x8x4 bearings. Am I able to share non competing yoyo store links on here?

just found that too

If it’s a yoyo shop then no. If it’s like a… mechanical parts shop or something then yes.

No editing done to the picture, b grade glossy green Plasm. I love it. Short video of me goofing off. This is with it stock, have some blanks coming so I’ll follow up

Mute video to prevent bearing sounds please.

I’ve seen 5x8x2 more commonly, it might be easier to beefcake two of those for most situations.

Edit Glen said hard no don’t do this.

Yeah, I’ve got lots of them in both 2mm and 2.5mm widths.

Careful with beefcajed you might get the bearing stuck

Good advice.

@AudreySickburn Those bearings on the NZ store you found are correct in dimensions at least. There are more things to conisder though like what kind of lubricant have they used, do they have a metal cage? How many balls?

They will at least fit and spin, so they will work. :+1:

Do not do this!!! It’s a very real risk they will get stuck!!

Really really pleased with the half swap.

The frosty matte isn’t pronounced, and is very subtle, so the differing glossy green/ frosty purple texture doesn’t aggravate me the way I thought it would.
