I’m sure I’ll wear out my welcome fast at this rate. lol
Anyway, was looking at random accessories and such, and I see that YYF has a Hubstack kit available, and I was wondering if a DV888 is able to use that kit, as I see there’s another yoyo just called an “888” that looks similar and has them already installed, but since I already have this one, I figure it’s easier to just swap some parts if possible.
Dv888 is weird cause it’s technically a design yyf bought but they also had their own 888 so it’s confusing. Legacy junk that just stuck I guess.
Either way lots of hubstack and rice stack options sadly yyf still holds the hubstack patent for a few years so most of your options are yyf unless it’s a Chinese brand that doesn’t care about US IP laws.
Its a “metal buzz-on dv8” but they had the 888, so they made the name a fun callback and confused everyone cause the 888 has a lot of fans, so people expect the dv888 to be like that, even though theyre very different.
I had one and thought it was a great YoYo, I didnt understand all the “hate” on it, but if you’re expecting anything “888” out of it, you will be disappointed lol.
Mine played really well, I gave it to my nephew to learn with
the DV888 Has sort of become my main responsive throw for now, but that’s partially because so few responsive yoyos are in the colorway I now arbitrarily only buy in. (autism is a hell of a drug, lemme tell ya. lol)
I admit I’m tempted to buy a second one to do that with. RIght now I just have this one where I swapped out to thinner response pads (something I do in any responsive play I keep around).
The name is a pun basically. It’s based on the Buzzon DV8 (Deviate) which was a hybrid yoyo that never fully released thanks to YYJ’s patent bs with weight rings (sort of ironic given the rest of your comment).
When it released it was one of the cheapest full metal yoyos at only $65!
