I remember that weird Chloe Grace Moretz thing that was going on here lol, maybe it was just that guy.
I make sure they don’t and instead hope they get me some nice clothes for my birthday or Christmas.

Honestly get a job. If too young find work around your neighborhood if that’s not possible “work” at home. Things outside of your usual day to day chores like washing windows and doing base boards and junk that’s meaningful and done well but not often done. Of course talk to parents first about that arrangement.
Basically earn it in some way by doing something outside of what your already expected to do,

I earned my first metal yoyo some time in the mid to late 90s this way. Went on vacation with the family including my uncle. Found a shop with yo-yos and was enamored. My uncle offered to buy one in exchange for summer work.
I white washed like 500 feet of fence, laid irrigation pipes, mowed lawns. All summer for one yoyo that I think cost about a hundred bucks. I think my uncle might have gotten the better deal out of this thinking back.

Also and this is important enough I want to reiterate it. There’s a big difference vs responsibility and doing things exceptional.
Homework and getting good grades is just what you do. You shouldn’t expect some award for it.
Chores like putting away your clothes and helping with basic household tasks like laundry, trash etc are not exceptional they are just what is expected to live in a house with other people.
Earning something doesn’t mean doing what’s expected of you it’s doing something beyond expectations. If your parents didn’t teach you that then learn it here from uncle Roger’s… wait I think that ones taken…

To get my parents to buy me a yoyo… I would have to set up a Seance.
They are currently on Tour with the Cloud 9 Quintet, so they may be too busy to step up?
But, if they could both just show up above the table in the shape of DNA’s, that would be better than a yoyo.
