90’s yoyo craze pulled me in and I soon lost interest, but always enjoyed playing with them as I grew older.
Many years later, Terraria introduced me to One Drop.
One day, while browsing Reddit, someone linked r/throwers and I ended up watching One Drop’s Nationals 2018 video and some A-RT stuff. This propelled me down a rabbit hole that I’m still digging into 3 years later.
Like many I’m seeing on this thread, I was a 90s fireball kid. I even upped it to some of the high end (at the time) Tom Kuhn stuff, but then lost interest when I went to college.
Fast forward 25 years… I went to a Nerdcore hip hop show late last year in Baltimore and started going down a Nerdcore wormhole afterward. I ended up Googling Doctor Popular, who produced some awesome tracks with MC Lars and others back in the early to mid 2000s. While on his site I stumbled into some of his yo-yo vids and was blown away with the progression. Went and dug out some of the old yo-yos out of the basement, a week later I bought a a Whip (which was the only bearing yo-yo I could find in a big box store) and I’m hooked.
