Holidays 2020, favorite movies? Plans?

They’re all very cute! What is outside the window? It looks like summer out there.

I just recently discovered recently that there is a Christmas Vacation 2 featuring Cousin Eddy. It looks so so sooooo unbelievably bad, borderline unwatchable, and I can’t want to see it!

Die Hard is such a classic “Christmas Movie”.

For me, I like to watch the whole LotR trilogy during the holidays. IIRC, those were each released right before Christmas. I saw each movie on Christmas Day with my brothers.

It is very, very bad. As bad as Christmas Story 2. But ya gotta watch it so you can form your own opinion. Worth watching, but horrible.

I never thought about Rudolph as a coming out story, bit it totally could be: ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ Is the Darkest Christmas Tale - The Atlantic

I read that. Interesting back-story and interpretations for sure.

I’m off Christmas Eve day so I will probably just sit with my sketchbook, yoyo practice, and watch cheesy but mildly amusing Christmas movies on Hallmark or other channels. I purchased a copy of The People of Yoyo for my yoyo apprentice next door but I’m gonna wait until Dec 25th to give it to him so it doesn’t seem like I am giving it to him with time to get me something.

Maybe I’m just insensitive, but this seems like silly season to me!

Yeah, it is. I once jokingly said to a guest at work: “If you can’t see the dark side of something you’re just not looking hard enough.” These days we are being trained to only (or mostly) focus on or acknowledge the worst of everything which can become such an entrenched way of thinking that it becomes impossible to see any goodness and light.

My wife and I have been talking turns picking movies. So far we have watched Die Hard, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and The Christmas Chronicles. I’m going to shake things up tonight with the Seinfeld episode that features Festivus (The Strike) and the first 70s Show Christmas episode. Good times!

Holiday plans: Stay at home, xmas with the family at home. As for movies - it’s my annual thing to watch Home Alone 1 and 2. I loved those movies as a kid and there’s just something nostalgic about it having those 2 films as part of my childhood. I have 2 close friends I’ve been seeing during this whole time (we’ve all been taking our precautions) and we have a little gift exchange planned as well so we can at least see some kind of normalcy out of 2020.

Great movies! True fact: There was a switchboard operator / front desk person at the resort I work at named Karen who was Joe Pesci’s cousin. Her side of the family did not speak to his side. Some kinda family feud that got worse when Joe wore one of her father’s hats in a movie.
