i have an unmodded Yomega Hotshot and ive been working on cold fusion for a while but when i get into double or nothing my yoyo will sleep for maybe another three seconds then spin out. i cant throw my breakaway any harder and still consistently get into double or nothing. am i not throwing hard enough or is the hotshot a crappy yoyo? getting a dm2 soon would that help my case any?
First off, I honestly find it hard to actually declare a yoyo “crappy” almost every throw can be tweaked and tuned to best suit your play style (either by changing the yoyo or otherwise) anywho, I don’t know crap about a Hotshot besides what it looks like in pics however, I would suggest trying to clean the bearing in mineral spirits or lighter fluid for a good 5 minutes or so, especially if you dont want to deshield it. Once you have cleaned the bearing spin it dry on the end of a pencil of paintbrush and replace it without re-lubing it. This will leave the balls inside of the bearing un-interrupted by lube or gunk which will allow them to spin more freely. Another idea is to pop out the Response, which if it shares the same response with the Maverick all you really need to do is break it in by either rubbing it pretty vigorously on some denim (jeans {OR you CAN play with it until it is broken in}), another option if popssible would be to flowable silicone or RTV the groove and leave it flush or just slightly recessed. Honestly though the bearing cleaning should warrant drastic results I hope this post helped
If not, I’ll go get rid of myself like Old Yeller :X o.O
He is correct. The DM2 will really help though. I learned cold fusion on it in about one day of semi-continous practice.
The DMII wont help if he cant get his hotshot to sleep long enough, unless theres a problem with his hotshot. If you throw a regular sleeper, how long does it spin? Do what dark said and clean the bearing.
the response pads are getting worn pretty good it gets more unresponsive by the day. been practicing binding quite a bit. when i throw a good sleeper it sleeps for about 25 to 30 seconds. ill clean the bearing and see what that does for me. thanks for the help everyone
