Has anyone shaved down a Cabal gut axle and tried a half spec C?

It is too long to completely close as is with a half spec, and wondering if it plays nice and responsive that way.

Could be a cool way to make a Delrin Deepest State or other various modern responsives

I don’t have any Cabal guts… but if I did, I assure you that I most certainly would have done this if possible. I see no reason it wouldn’t be similar to shortening Side Effects. Got pics?

It should work no problem if cut correctly. Have you had to cut and then use threaded rod before?

Stuck at work

I have not, that was the next question lol

The cabal guts I have don’t have the axle loctite into them so I can remove it without issue and swap for a smaller one unlike se. The posts can be a slight protrusion issue on some models for half spec and stuff but could mess with shims to get past that

Should be doable

Last question, and thank you everyone. Why does the Deepest State play so phenomenal with a standard C greased bearing, but not near as good on the Cabal guts with a greased standard C.

I have no issues doing the mods above and using a half spec C, half spec greased C in the Docpop thing is amazing.

Maybe just use thicker pads?

Maybe I need pictures to understand what we are trying to do. I think I’m struggling to grasp the issue.

I can’t really describe it with words proper enough, it’s me, but I will play around with it.

I tested a wood unresponsive from Rich with Cabal guts, it absolutely slayed. And trying to figure out a way to be able to recommend how to also get them to play responsive without just recommending grease standard C

The Thing I have doesn’t play as good with just a standard C greased for modern responsive, but with a greased half spec it’s unreal. Now imagine that in a wood throw, would be just amazing I think

Really wish 3/4 spec C bearing was a thing

Ohh I’ve been talking to Rich about the unresponsive. I’m going to send him a few stem kits from Fd to mess with too

Nice! He really nailed it on his first attempt, has minimal vibe which is basically par for the course for wood unresponsives, and doesn’t detract from play at all. First attempt could easily go production

Cabal 2 with a greasebucket is a banger. Any greased c bearing would work, but I have played one for a while. FH1 vibes.

If this is for a wood unresponsive the solution is to just make the area between the spacer and SE thicker than you would for a full sized bearing

Thank you again. Great info from you all. Looking forward to seeing how everything pans out. Really love wood bearing throws and just don’t see them much which I imagine is on account of a difficulty to get the proper cuts to make the spr fit securely and have minimal vibe

I will likely grab a 3/4 spec Ultem c blank and see how that goes too

Yes, pads stick out a bit on deepest state.

Do you have spacers?

Pay for shipping and ill send you some. (Few bucks for conus) I print em. Needed for yos like deep/er/est where the bearing is recessed a bit, but allows tou to play with normal or half bearings.

Thank you, I’m actually sending everything back to Rich but should it not play right with steps above I will definitely hit you up, thank you again
