I like the YYJ Speed bearings a lot better than the YYF Spec. The jury’s still out on YYF Spec X for me. Never tried the YYE brand. I see they now have an inexpensive ceramic as well!
You won’t hear too many people say bad things about OD 10 ball. I also really like the General-Yo AIGR. It’s 8-ball I think, but plays smooth and quiet, like the OD 10 ball.
I don’t know if I’d call ANY of those “cheap”. You can find cheaper bearings.
I really like the YYJ Speed Bearings. Their regular ones, not so much, but mostly due to the lack of consistency in them.
YYF? I’ve had too many SPEC bearings not up to SPEC(spec, whatever). Centertracs? Yes. Sweet. SPEC? Sucks! I had 3 NEW SPEC bearings. 1 not acceptable. I’ve had all my other loose YYF SPEC bearings “fail” my specs during my recent bearing cleaning marathon.
But, then there’s the Buddha bearings, which I’m having great results with. Simple=flat. Dimple=CenterTrac. Ripple = Trifecta/Crucial Grooved(more towards Trifecta). Having had nothing but amazing results with these. However, unless I’m wrong(and I could be, I’ve been gone for 2 months), YYE doesn’t carry them.
OD 10-Ball? Very consistent. No issues.
If you want to go cheap, Buddha Simple bearings. Bam! Want to go from YYE? I personally would do YYJ SPEED bearings in a heartbeat. That reminds me, I need to order a Classic. I have bearings. Where to drop in that item from…
Or you could go to a local hobby store they store they should sell (.250 x .500 x .187) bearings which are the dimensions of a size C bearing. But the problem is you must make sure it is stainless steel! I actually bought a few for my RC cars, the bearings are usually heavily lubes but nothing a good cleaning can’t fix.
I tried a hobby shop. The did not have that size of bearing and had never actually heard of it. I wonder if metric is the common measurement in the RC world?
One thing, my hardware store is bigger than lowes. It has yo-yos, TONS of RC cars almost as big as a car. They have absolutely EVERYTHING!!! But it’s 15-20 mins down the road. But my dad takes me there often.
It is an ACE hardware mixed with a True Value Hardware. I love that place :).
