im trying to splash my legacy and pgm what do i need to do that
if you want to use paint, get a brush dip it in the paint and flick the brush towards the yoyo. its really messy so do it outside and practice by holding up a piece of paper so you can get a feel for it and see what the splash will look like. then when the paint is dry spray a few coats of clear acrylic varnish (something like krylon acrylic crystal clear) so the paint doesnt rub off the yoyo

would it damage the grinding surface on my pgm

You don’t splash the dye, you splash the mask. Splash some hot glue on the yoyo and then dye it with a darker color than it already is.
Splatter Elemers glue all over the yo-yo and let it dry, then just dye the yo-yo in hot water and RIT dye. Peal the glue off after and there you are.
