I’m gonna be real and say I bought it purely on hype and I am glad I did. I like 57+mm diameter yoyos usually but the tiny mr85 bearing is so small that I knew this would play unlike anything in my collection. I have a bunch of high power bimetals and standard mono metal yoyos so at this point in my collection I value uniqueness higher. It helps this thing is a ton of fun to just throw and catch and throw and catch. It’s got that “one-more-throw” feeling.
I’m still forming thoughts on it, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it. It’s one of the few undersized throws I have tried where I never feel that it’s undersized. It just performs.
Not an owner here but I did try one for a pretty good period of time (played with it for an hour). I liked it a lot! I like the power for the size and mass, and obviously the 57-ish grams of weight attribute to it being fast. This is probably a skill issue on my part but I found it a bit hard to control due to how fast and powerful it was while being undersized, and, while I totally understand why the price tag is as high as it is (unique bearing and response system, smaller company, 7075 aluminum, and probably far more r&d and prototyping than a normal yoyo), I personally couldn’t see myself buying it when there are bimetals that are cheaper. Again, this is just my take, as there is obviously a crowd for it or else it wouldn’t have sold as quickly as it did. Either way Glenn I’m very happy for you and I think you made a good yoyo. Just not my style is all. Maybe when I get better at yoyoing I will get one and rethink my opinions.
Tldr: Very unique yoyo, just not my type for the price.
PS: take my words with a grain of salt as the survey asked for owners. I didn’t vote on the poll as I’m not one of those people, I just thought I’d share my thoughts on it as I have opinions
I’m playing the PIF, and I’ve got one more week with it before I pass it on. Something I’m getting a lot of is snags after binding. It reminds me of when I first started u responsive play and I would end up with a tail look from the bind that would wrap around the string. Most of these snags with the lemon I have to unwind it to get it out. Another thing I noticed is that if I have too much tension in the string, these snags happen more often. I’m wondering if I need to use thinner strings than I’m used to as well.
Other than the snags, it’s a fun yoyo. Binds suupper tight, (maybe this is why the snags are intense) and the fly away/ laceration style binds are super easy, it’s like a cheat code for those.
really like it so far. lots of rpms for spin time, and doesn’t feel weighty or too light. I need to experiment with some different strings but I would note that the response is a little tart with a thicker string… its unresponsive, but can’t be sloppy. If you get a little too much slack in the gap or don’t maintain enough string tension in mounts, it will try to squirt you in the eye, lol.
Yeah, you need to play clean with the Lemon for sure. To need to bind really cleanly and manage your string tension. I generally use regular string on mine, but I sometimes use thick too without too many problems.
I don’t find I have to coddle it though, I can just play like I play on any other yoyo. It certainly doesn’t warrant a skull emoji.
I heavily recessed some ultra grey in mine and its still snaggy from breaking in. I actually think I need to recess it even further but I’m just gonna wear it down naturally until the response is where I want it.
I love my lemon. One of (if not the most) stable organic throw I have. Best undersized by far. I don’t find it to be snaggy at all. I usually stray away from A and D bearing yoyos because I find them snaggy. I do live in AZ which is notoriously dry so the string isn’t picking up any moisture. My favorite thing is the weight. I have iffy finger joints from climbing almost exclusively use 63g and below. Larger diameters don’t help the yoyo has to be physically lighter. Which means I can play the lemon as much as I want without hurting my joints.
I missed out on the drop for this one too. That being said after reading the hype and some hands on reviews, it sounds like a throw that I would really enjoy. I enjoy the challenge of thinner throws and the concept with this half spec has my interest piqued. Definitely looking forward to seeing more reviews and maybe getting my hands on one to play.
I’m a complete n00b when it comes to unresponsive yoyos, but I’m having a lot of fun with my flying lime. It’s more stable than any of my other similarly sized throws, and the small bearing gives it a very unique feel on the wind and on the bind. Binds are snappy and tight even at very low rpms. And to top it off, I think it looks great too.
