What determines whether a particular model utilizes the standard flow groove, or the slim pads?

We always default to the standard Flow Goove unless the yoyo design is thin in the center and there isn’t enough room for Flow Groove, then we used 19mm. They groove is much shallower. We prefer Flow Groove because it’s easier to install and lasts longer, but will do 19mm where it’s appropriate.
