Fixed Axle February 2026: Back to Basics (Because we’re all Tired)

Alright friends… real talk.
Is it just us, or has 2026 already been relentlessly kicking everyone in the groin? Yeah. Same.

So we’re doing what the YoYo Boomers Club does best when the world gets loud.

Going back to the basics! Cue the “Back in my day…” alarms. Trigger the “Remember when…” cutscenes. FAF 2026 is HERE!

This month, we’re ditching the stress, the tight deadlines, the endless debates, and just throwing fixies like we’re sitting in our childhood bedrooms waiting for the mac and cheese to be done.
Breadcrumb topping? No thanks. Fancy cheese blend? Hard pass.
We’re talking straight-up blue box Kraft. The good stuff.

Whether you’re:

* A newbie looking for some starting fun and a good community

* An old-head craving a simple-but-spicy challenge

* Or just someone who wants to participate for the enjoyment

FAF and the YYBC have you covered.

How it works:

Full month-long trick ladder (no rush, no pressure, no worries). Submit one video per trick, one for all, or anything in between.

Complete a trick = get a point

Points = your entries to win sweet swag from our awesome friends and sponsors

* And yes… a little birdie says there might be an “Eco-Friendly Reusable Juice Box” on the line (Only three exist!)

Snowed in? Throw.
Eggs cost more than your yoyo collection? Throw.
Spilled your fresh cup o’ joe and questioned every life choice? Definitely throw.

This is a safe space. “Where everybody knows your name” (or at least your username).

So stop curling up into a little ball. We’ve got you.
Grab your favorite wood, Butterfly, bearing blank, etc., breathe a little, and let’s remember why we fell in love with this silly little spinning toy in the first place.

I love the chill and laid back formatting you all put together this year. I started the Fixed axle February journey last year and it took me a minute to understand the format of the weekly tricks, contest entries, etc…. This years post was super simple and easy to understand, and seems very chill and laid back with little pressure as you intended, so thank you.

Also, whoever decided to add Varials, why do you hate me lol?

Oh, Berv… dramatic vows of self-destruction over a Varial?

Listen closely, meatbag: I strongly advise not dying for a trick you can land with a fraction more discipline and a slightly tighter string.

You will hit that Varial this year, but not because it kills you.

You’ll hit it because you’re going to drill it until the muscle memory imprints itself on your fragile human chassis like firmware. The same goes for the rest of you.

And if you don’t?

I’ll loom directly behind you during practice, radiating unsettling robot encouragement until you do.

Now go. Land it. Stay alive. I require my throwers intact.

I feel like this year’s gonna be the year of the shuvit and varial. I can do varials occasionally but it still needs a ton of work, getting that rotation’s a hit and (mostly) a miss. Same with what I think is a shuvit?

Right now though I’m obsessing over perfecting fakie regens. Deceptively tough trick despite it looking simple. I posted it on here the other day via a YT Short, and (against my better judgement) posted on Insta despite me opting to ditch Insta.

It was last year when dump trucks finally clicked for me. Sane with moons/lunar landings. For dump trucks, I just couldn’t get that turnover to happen and now it’s one of my go-to’s.

same…I could never successfully land a kickflip on an actual board aside from being on dirt…so landing kickflips on a fixie/responsive is the next best thing :slight_smile:
