Yo varials are weird and difficult at first for sure. Hereās a few things to try that helped me increase my confidence and consistency with them. When you land in the stall, take a few pre varial movements where you donāt hop it up yet but just pull throw hand back and you can see how that movement helps to add the spin to the Yoyo. Try to isolate that horizontal movement with throw hand and let non throw hand focus on vertical movement. Try to remove non throw hand index from the loop carefully when you do them for real. This helps not add any extra movements and just helps keep things nice. After the Yoyo is in the air and spinning, follow the spin and try to cut into the string and under the Yoyo at the perfect time. The cut into the string and under the Yoyo part is important, especially if the string is like stuck a bit vs sometimes it unfurls and opens up. Cushion the landing bc the worst is when you catch the Yoyo with perfect timing but then it wobbles and falls off the trapeze. Good luck!
My 0.5a guest trick got cut off by Instagram, Docās Iceberg Stall
My entry for this week. Tape Measure only. Iām working hard on the guest trick because itās cool and itās time I focus on just that if I have a chance lol.
Thanks for the contest and good luck to all.
This trick drove me nuts this week, but finally nailed the double or nothing chop stick . Doesnāt make sense either because I love eating with chopsticks! From Cheetos to sushi, all of itās good with chopsticks @schmilk on Instagram: "Threw out my back trying to stop a yoyo from hitting the ground practicing the ice pick on Sunday. Here's the double or nothing chop stick stall because that trick drove me nuts. #fixedaxlefebruary2024 #week4 ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā "
My final entry for the month. All 5 tricks plus the guest trick! Never thought i would attach a counterweight to a duncan butterfly but will probably keep this set-up. Thank you to everyone involved in putting this together!
Hereās my entry for Week 4
Didnāt get the double or nothing chopsticks yet, but Iām pretty close to stopping it bouncing out. That sad little rim snag was the only varial I caught on camera.
Celebrity trick complete!
My entry for this week, everything except celebrity trick.
Thank you for hosting this event! Itās been fun.
Man O Man!! Final stretch of the last part of this amazing adventure!! It has been an absolute thrill to be a part of this coming together. Thatās really what this was. We all loosely hung out for an entire month. Routing each other on and encouraging one another to push through adversity and having fun together all along. Iāve seen many show great leaps in progress during this monthā¦and I threw a yo-yo tooā¦
Iāve heard people express that they are chomping at the bit to get into MRM. I am right there with you. I wonāt lieā¦the fixed axle has been torturous for me
Iām nowhere near half decent on any yo-yo really, but the responsive makes sense to me. Much excitement has already been drummed up around MRM and that means the fun and hang time doesnāt end here. Iām very much looking forward to having this same kind of fun together for another month. All of the āthank youāsā just arenāt enough to fully express the gratitude toward all who gave so much of their already taxed time to make this happen. All volunteers who are looking at still another month of facilitating. So if anyone has the kind of gratitude that moves you to want to help, please reach out to @YoYo-Boomer-Club I happen to know theyād love the help. Good job everyone. Itās been awesome hanging with you so far!!
Donāt think Iāve got time to do the Iceberg stall tomorrow so I guess this is all I got for this week:
Not eligible but here is what I was able to get down for week 4.
