FHZ - Tr0ublesh00ting [n33d h4lp pl0x]

So, my new FHZ Clear came in the mail yesterday, my first yo-yo in about five years (RIP my Duncan Impulse from grade 8).

I’m already having problems;

  • I took one friction sticker off and add YYJ thin lube and now it’s REALLY unresponsive (is there an alternative for thick lube?)
  • The string loosens and falls to the ground after winding it up (And unwinds if you pull on it)
  • The snap start, trapeze start & hand start don’t work with my yo-yo (more due to my limp string than lack of skill, I think)

Ugh! >:| Thanks!

Well, I’m going to assume you don’t know how to bind? Correct me if I’m wrong. If your have’n issue getting the Yo to return, I would re-add that friction sticker you removed and you should be able to have a tighter return on the Yo. You can also put the smaller spacers in the Yo until you get used to it, I left both stickers in my FH2 until I got the feel for it.

Duncan friction stickers wear out FAST. I’m guessing that the one you have in there is no longer tacky at all? Feels more like cloth? That’s not what you want. I prefer using a dead sticker(like you’ve got in there right now)and a semi-fresh one if I’m playing responsive. Throw the other one back in there and see how that feels. You may also want to look into some longer lasting response options as well.

you can learn to bind from this video YoYoExpert.com - Intermediate - Bind Returns

Learn to bind and add another friction sticker. I like a FHZ with one new friction sticker and one broken in one or a new one and a K-Pad.

A good alternative to thick oil is gun oil. Ive used it before with pretty good results.
