Fantastic plastic

I’m new to the hobby but I wanted to start a thread dedicated to my absolute favorite - the plastic yoyo. I love it all, from the most inexpensive Butterfly XT or Spinstar to the lux Luftwerk. My current faves:

Duncan Freehand Polycarbonate
Luftwerk Fulvia
iYoyo Shooting Star

What’s the most iconic plastic?
What amazing plastic releases did I miss before I got into throwing?
What’s on your plastic wishlist?

I always loved the YoYoJam Kickside until I lost mine. Sad times. Also, shoutout to the Duncan Mosquito, the yo that got me into all this.

The DIY is currently my favorite unresponsive plastic.

I had to google both of these. The mosquito has such a cool vintage look. And is it just me, or does the kickside look just like the yoyofactory One?

Wish I’d snagged this in the yellow colorway!

Doc Pop BoltXP is my favorite plastic. DIY is also excellent.

I’d say the YYF Replay Pro is pretty iconic. Favorite is still the Speedaholic XX.

Which one would you recommend for responsive play?

BoltXP with a half spec for responsive.

I really think the Mowl Highwall has become my favorite plastic, with the DIY and Speedaholic XX to round out my top 3.

I often give kids under 10 starting out a butterfly xt

I love the recess first base and the offset variant as plastics

I don’t know about most iconic other than like OG freehands or Tiger sharks. But my favorite plastic will always be the YoYojam Lyn Fury. I used it for learning all sorts of 1a back in the day. And I used it for a local contest.
Oh! Definitely iconic and my first favorite was the bumble bee. I did a couple local contests with that bad boy.

That’s a seriously cool throw

Butterfly XT is my backpack throw, it’s cheap and fun and I never have to worry about losing it

Get the Speedaholic XX! Practically as good as a beginner metal. It is sincerely insane how much performance you can get out of it.

I’ve seen this recommended so many times - it’s definitely next on my purchase list. And it has a ton of cool colorways as well

My favorite most recent plastic release is probably the Plastic Peak (also by Luftverk). It just is so pleasing and enjoyable to play with!

Will also echo the Speedaholic recommendation!

Also - the Arctica by Atmos is really really interesting… Probably the most precise playing plastic yo-yo I have ever thrown!

My all time favorite plastic yo-yo at the moment too is probably the Hybrid by MOWL. It is a plastic yo-yo that actually throws almost like a metal yo-yo with its weight distribution - powerful and fun. I’m hoping they make more again soon.

Not the best picture, but I’m one of the YoYo Empire true believers around here so I think most of their machined plastics qualify as fantastic. Here’s my collection, so far, of plastic or hybrid 1A yoyos either sold under their name or manufactured by them. (Ceramic bearings not original, unfortunately!)

Zeekio Zenith “with mirror center” (YYE Moon), Zeekio Zenith (YYE Empire Sun), Zeekio Flare (YYE Simple Love), Zeekio Flare Ultra (YYE Star Empire), Rebellion Golyat, Boreas II, another Boreas II (was hoping for POM but it’s opaque Polycarb), Boreas II Pro, Boreas Pro Top, Eurus, Zephyr, Doc Pop D.I.Y. (based on YYE Notus), Big Bang, YYE/Toybania V Ting, Fire Spirit, Tsunami.
