Ever have an "old school" day?

Today I felt the urge to ditch the bearings and the silicone and carry around my vintage 80’s royal blue Duncan butterfly. I’m challenging myself to do without the more modern touches of today’s yo-yo and go “old school”. Wish I had a no jive. ;D What’s your favorite throw when you are having an “old school” day?

Yes. Oh god yes. I love having “old school” days!

Usually I bust out my butterfly or mabye even my fireball if I want to cheat a little

Probably a Duncan Freehand.

Thats not old school enough, man  . Still has bearings

Oh, Ok. Umm… Probably a Yomega Fireball then (Not to Coppy you, but I sometimes like to play with those)

I like to use either my Duncan Butterfly, Imperial, or my Wood Smothers Brothers yoyo.

What do old school days mean? ::slight_smile:

“Old school” is an American colloquialism meaning either from your personal beginning in something (I.e. yo-yo) or a historic style or type of something. It is usually used in reference to pop culture. I do believe the term has travelled outside the United States through the international popularity of hip-hop and R&B. There are other uses for the expression but I believe these are the most common. In this case I used old school to refer to the sport of yo yo in its earlier incarnation- pre-bearings and solid axles.

Hope that helps!

Not even remotely old school.

Around the house I’ll throw my old Duncan Satellites, but if I’m out and about, I’ll use a No-Jive or a BC Lightning. I love having old school days

Dollar store yoyo mainly for looping.

Duncan Imperial for looping! Feels snappy, and love it like that.

I carry one of these with me most days…

That, Belegnole, is a fine, fine yo-yo. I’d love to have one of those.
