Just got my hands on a 90’s era Duncan Wheels and I’d like to mod it to take an A-size bearing and silicone stickers. Anyone have any good tips on the best way to create the axle assembly? Any tips on specific epoxies that have worked well with the plastic? I’ve found some modded wheels pics and it looks like a common technique is to put threaded inserts in the white wheels caps to hold everything together. I own a metal lathe and am pretty comfortable with hitting tolerances and have some initial ideas on fixturing to ensure/check/fix concentricity, so my question is more specifically with regards to the best approach and things to be aware of/ how not to mess it up.

There are several options really comes down to what you are comfortable doing. If you have a metal lathe after cutting the axle in half, you can center drill and tap for threads, then machine an A sized bearing seat.
Thanks!

That’s a great idea. I had thought about starting from scratch (knurling a new bar), but I hadn’t though about just salvaging the axle itself for parts. Thanks!
