I bought an original Duncan Butterfly at ToysRUs, but when I tried to open up the yoyo, only the plastic covering was moving. It was connecting to the base of the other ear, I think that’s what it’s called. Does anyone know any other ways to adjust string height?
First off, I’d like to welcome you to the wonderful world of the YoYoExpert Forums.
Second, this video might help you:
Your Duncan Butterfly is a fixed axle yo-yo that normally doesn’t unscrew. Doing the method in the video will pop one of the yo-yo halves off of the axle. You can put it back together by squeezing the halves back together. Try to make it so that when you put them together, they are parallel to prevent any wobble.
As for the string height, do you mean adjusting the string length? YoYoExpert has a video about cutting your string down to the right length here: [s]http://yoyoexpert.com/learn/412-maintenance-yo-yo-string.html[/s]
EDIT: Sorry, I put the wrong video. Here’s the video for adjusting string length: YoYoExpert.com - Basics - Yo-Yo String
Ehhhh, they weren’t made to come apart. You can follow JayVee’s lead above, but putting it back together will be iffy at best.
String length - JayVee has it nailed.
