Does anyone have an Alt Bastet?

Hi! I’m looking for someone who has an Alt Bastet, not looking to buy or anything just wanna hear your thoughts on it

Also wondering if its hub is a dome or flat, having a hard time telling with product pics.

Thanks!

I’m also curious about this throw!! I’m starting to think no one has it. It’s damn near impossible to find anything on it

I pulled mine out this morning for ~20 minutes.

The hub is flat. It’s very agile on the string, feels like it could go faster than I can. Though I’m not a speed player, tbf. It’s very stable, stays on plane well. Even though it doesn’t have a response bump, it’s got a v-ish veer away almost immediately, which I think helps with the stability. It’s not a pure O shape, so not as floaty as, say, an RSO Bowl, but it’s good enough of an organic feel for me. Binds are nice and snug, as you’d expect with a D bearing, but not snaggy. Great spin times, and the D bearing responds well at low RPMs on top of that.

Overall I like it quite a bit, no regrets on purchasing it.

I think the obvious comparison is the Gnome:

The Gnome is more of an O shape, so it’s a bit floatier, lighter on the string, but not by a lot. Binds are similar. I think the Alt Bastet spin time is a little better. I think unless you’re a collector it’s a little hard to justify having both. That being said, I’ve certainly justified it with no problem. But I’ll probably be throwing the Gnome more often (I’m a big fan of pure O shapes).

Another comparison would be the Dunk Rebound:

The Rebound is a little wider, but IMO the stability between the two is on par. The Rebound feels lighter on the string, but again, not by a lot. Spin time seems comparable, as do binds. I’m a huge Jake Bullock fan, so it’s not really fair for me to make a judgement between the two, but I’ll say they’re pretty comparable, organic shapes with interesting catch zones and D bearings.

For kicks I also pulled out the Cloudberry:

They’re a lot more comparable than I expected. Stability was on par, despite the Cloudberry being noticeably wider. I like the D bearing binds better, though the Cloudberry binds just fine. Same feel on the string, wrt weight and agility. Between these two, I think it’s a question of whether you like C or D bearings better, honestly.

Sounds like a good revision of the Bastet 2. The D bearing sounds like it fixed Bastet 2’s problem of basically feeling padless.

Bastet 2 was a great performance organic but it felt like you had to swap the pads and play with XL string or you just weren’t binding that thing. Although I guess for a certain type of player that’s probably a good thing, but it felt like a weird choice on a yoyo that seemed more geared towards being a comfy/casual organic yoyo, and not a sweaty tech yoyo.

That does sound like it addresses that issue. I haven’t tried any Bastet other than the Alt. I agree, it seems a little odd to make the binds that slippy, though I usually trend toward snappier anyway. I’d rather err on that side than too slippy.
