Do you think Yomega is underrated?

Yomega has the most devoted fans

Yomega is the purgatory. The intermediate. The inbetween place that people hang out in while they convince themselves that what they have is good enough, or if they will proceed into the world of hobby grade throws. (Yes the glide is OK but not great. One of the best in their lineup though ive not tried the ProDiggy)

Duncan is the worst by miles. absolute garbage that everyone and their gma knows, has tried and concluded they suck usually discouriging the aspiring thrower to stop throwing all together (Thanks duncan!)

Yomega makes better than duncan but still what i consider “toy grade”. Most of the line up cannot be changed, upgraded, or tweaked without mods. The deliberate use of non-standard parts is classic toy grade companies using parts that non compatible with most hobby grade models. This is the way they “force” to you go back to them, and that sucks. That shows they are not in it for the betterment of the hobby, just to line their pockets.

So no, they are not underrated. They are rated appropriatly near the bottom rungs.

I think most people not on the forums (but still serioud throwers) would put Duncan above yomega.
The torque is not a bad throw at all, and the Free Hand Zero might be outdated now, but was pretty legit back in the day, plus they are putting out a new free hand.

Of course we the butterfly has done more damage than any other throw…

There may be a few nicer Duncans (ive thrown the strix, and while i wouldnt buy it, it wasnt bad at all) but the over all amount of people that have tried the cheapest imperials and butterflies and almost immediately put them back down makes me sad. I think those two yoyos have done far and away the most damage to the yoyo world. Thats mostly why i put them on the bottom.

So my perspective on this is kind of counter to Ed’s. I grew up in the sixties, and the Yoyo we all played with was, of course, the Duncan Imperial. The brain came out when I was teaching junior high school. At the time, I really thought this yoyo that all of my students had was really corny. Then I got back into Yoyoing about the time the Prodigy came out. My reason for NOT considering it (fair or unfair) was the brain. Yomega was a toy manufacturer…not a yoyo company. Now that I am wiser (and only moderately better), I would probably be more inclined to try the Prodigy…especially since I really like OneDrop and Daniel Dietz. But my initial disdain came from my perception (perception…not reality) of the company.

Incidentally, this thread has been a really fun one to read.

But hey, at least Yomega is finally using standard parts in their new yoyos now.

How cute.

I don’t have any problem with pretty much any yoyo that are properly made and working, be it Yomega or Duncan. If you can’t play it for goodness sake, please refrain from using strong words like “absolute garbage”, because they are not.
I have been yoyoing since 1996 but I still play my Brains and Fireballs for 1a like no others.
The only garbage I know are the cheapo no-name ones that doesn’t even work. Duncans and Yomegas are lightyears better than those in term of quality and performance, and they have been some of the biggest yoyo contest sponsor since the last… I don’t know, forever?

And… what have you done for the community again?

Well it’s still true.

I still have a bit of fun sometimes with my old transaxle Fireball. I like to try and get through tricks with hops without it obliterating my knuckles.

I think the thread backfired, you guys are making me want to get a Fireball just to try it out

Your rhetorical and passive aggressive question towards me is very revealing.

You want to make this personal towards me because I have a point of view counter to yourself? Grow up.

Im glad you like them. I happy youve been in it for years and years. Im glad they support you you sponsership and all that may entail.
But that doesnt mean you have to try make it against me. Super childish. Just makes me dislike them more. Good job!

I did asked the question earlier to see your reaction if the condition is reversed.
I don’t have any problem with different point of view, you could disagree all you want. However…

I can see how you dislike it when people “try it against you”, but you started trying against others… it doesn’t make sense for me. You could’ve said it better and no one will say anything about it.

However, sorry if I got on your nerves, honestly I should have said it better.

No worries man. Context is often lost in translation. Were all brothers here.

How does the Prodigy & Glide compare to other high end metals?

Outperforms every yoyo.

Glide is overall heavier but both have even weight distribution. Prodigy seem to have higher tolerance (more precisely made), and it plays somewhat like Onedrops.

Not necessarily, as it depends more on the player’s preference than anything else.

Thanks for answering.
