Do we buy manufacturer's yo-yo shirts to perform in?

I am asking this because a comment in another thread noted that black t-shirts are best for showing off yo-yo and string.

I am tired of every manufacturer’s yo-yo shirt being black. I do not wear a yo-yo shirt to perform. I wear it attract the attention of women who find playing yo-yo attractive; or as a way to start conversation with strangers. Therefore, yo-yo shirt colors would make for a much more diverse wardrobe.

So, the question is:
1. Should yo-yo shirts be black to accentuate visual yo-yo performance?
2. Should we have more color options to make the shirt more visually diverse?

I’m just a big, sweaty man. So about 98% of my shirts are already black, or navy. Colors don’t interest me too much, but that’s just personal preference, haha.

I’m always wearing tie dye, I’m wearing a marble purple shirt right now, but I do wear black time to time, and when filming YoYo.

I wore pretty much all black for a long, long time, I was “goth” in high school lol. Now I’ve embraced the inner dead head I was raised to be.

I don’t get T-shirts to perform in, I usually get them because they are free or on sale. Of the 10 I could find, only 3 of them are black , I think there are often more color options available if you keep your eyes peeled.

Lol just wear whatever you want and other ppl will do the same. I was wearing mostly all black before I started playing yoyo and imma keep doing that. 90% black, 10% tie-dye.

Black does make tricks easier to see though and has the benefit of also being cool. I’m awkwardly/ nervously laughing at the line about attracting women like … :face_with_peeking_eye: :face_exhaling: :person_facepalming:

Trying to tell other ppl what to do or wear is super cringe.

If I am coming across as trying to tell people what to wear, I apologize. That is not my intent.

My perspective is that I am asking for the manufacturer’s to offer more color options for the same reason. Why do we all have to wear black?

Edit; and the the women line is OBVIOUSLY a joke; unless you actually know some ladies…

My issue is designs are kind of lacking. I don’t find many yoyo shirts that have a design I enjoy and wearing just a brand name on my shirt is not interesting to me at all.

Like the Duncan logo would be lame but a massive monarch butterfly logo would be sick.

Also AI art is fine in certain spaces but not on merch. My wife got me a shirt that obviously has AI art and I wear it cause my wife bought it for me but I don’t like it as much.

Black is just the most commonly used, and it happens to be the easiest to style because it goes with basically everything.

There are plenty of colors you can use as long as the string pops. Dark greens, navy, brown, and even some brighter colors can be used as long as the string contrasts correctly. Unless you don’t care for the string contrasting, then who cares? You don’t always need to record a trick circle or compete. I wear white shirts all the time and I don’t really give a damn if the string pops better or not unless I’m recording a trick circle.

But…

If you ask me, many manufacturers’ shirts are actually really low quality and usually just have a garish logo smooshed onto them. A lot of the time, you can tell the thought process behind yoyo merch was literally just “get that logo on that black thing,” and that’s it. They’re not even good blanks.

You can also always explore with non-standard shirts, stuff besides t-shirts. Ye olde camp shirt, a polo, flannel, tank top, etc. I just chopped one of my favorite shirts into a tank top for more variety. Fashion isn’t what’s on the clothes, it’s what you wear and how you wear it.

Yeah I noticed if you aren’t around a contest or some event, most folks don’t recognize the Duncan logo shirts as being a yo-yo company.
Thanks @YoyoGeezer , I just went on a 20 minute scavenger hunt looking for my Monkeyfinger shirt. It’s one of the black ones, if you don’t count the massive hi-viz green logo that is guaranteed to clash with anything . Very classy though, it’s one of my dress shirts.

Women are Not attracted to ‘yo-yos’.

Women ‘may’ be attracted to guys that throw yo-yos.

That is unless….. the guy throwing, acts like a yoyo.

What about guys that throw yo-yo’s; but also act like one? Are they mega-attractive? If so, I am a stud.

What colours would everyone want if you could choose?

I like navy and black, so I’m good. But I like colour gradients most, and they’re hard to find either printed or blank.

Also, some people fall in love with and then marry the Eiffel Tower and the Berlin Wall. I’ll make a yoyo called the Glory Hole and if anyone wants to marry it, then who am I to stand in the way of love

It isnt Onedrop doing the run of shirts its myself personally with their permission. This means I have to keep track of peoples contact information, shirt sizes, later pack shirt orders, and sort through to make sure they get the correct sizes sent to them. If you think I want to add the added complexity layer of adding colors into the mix rather than just having them all the same color for simplicity sake then you’re mistaken.

I 100% agree colors would be nice to have as far as variety for yoyo company shirts but again im doing this with my own personal time and putting my own personal labor into this. If you want colored yoyo shirts you’re more than welcome to reach out to your favorite yoyo company and ask for permission to do a run of shirts then add colors to your option of available shirts.

@DocPop designs are available made-to-order on a wide selection of shirts.

I think that approach is pretty ideal for yo-yo themed merch, since many brands are small and the market is pretty diverse.

Now it just needs a good shirt to promote it. Fun art and big letters are a must have.
