Anybody get one yet?
What is a Deeper State?
It is the latest yoyo from One Drop.
It’s really quite good. I normally have a tough time bonding w responsive C bearings but this plays a lot better than the og (imo). Plays lighter and more zippy. Still reeeeeally different and not as tuggy as an A bearing but it’s just a different kind of yoyo. Great for flowy 1a with fat flyaways as opposed to raw 0a like 650 or Weekender. One of my fave OneDrops yet for sure.
Thanks for your response Ed.
I am just getting back into the hobby. I saw these dropped yesterday and already there were only two color ways left for sale. I decided to pull the trigger on one knowing One Drop makes high quality throws.
Considering this is a 2.0 Deep State which has had some upgrades over the original, buying the Deeper State seemed like a no brainer.
I picked one up. Love the design of the original Deep State but the play hasn’t totally clicked with me. I don’t like the looks of the Deeper as much as the original but was pleasantly surprised by the play. It’s less aggressively responsive than some of my other throws without being slippy which was my criticism of the original. I think this will fit into my collection as a nice way to clean up tricks and smooth out my 1a as opposed to a full on 0a machine (similar to what Ed said)
Well dang being a huuuge Deep State fan, I had to pick up one of these… NQP but that’s fine by me!
We need to go deeper.
The Deep State released almost three years ago. We wanted to have a One Drop yo-yo that was accessible to everyone to use without a bind. Since it was our first semi-responsive yo-yo, we weren’t sure how well it would be received and how much demand there would be. The Deep State has turned out to be one of our best selling models and still going strong. Because of that we decided to make a new version.
One of the “weaknesses” of the Deep State is that doing modern 1A tricks can be really challenging. For anyone not used to responsiveness, 1A is going to be difficult, however, the narrow width and narrow gap also add to the challenge. For the Deeper State we wanted to improve this aspect so you’ll find it’s a little bigger in diameter and a fair bit bigger in width. Additionally the gap is narrow at the bottom of the catch zone to help with responsiveness, but unlike the Deep State, the top of the catch zone opens up wide. These features make it easier to land string tricks and it’s more stable than the Deep State. Even though it’s a bigger yo-yo, the overall weight is the same or lighter than the Deep State (depending on the Side Effects used). Don’t get us wrong, it’s still going to be challenging to hit your string tricks, but things are much improved in that regard.
We decided to use a tapped axle instead of Side Effects on the Deeper State just to mix things up. The cup has a really cool and unique look to it.
If you’re looking to just throw it and tug it back up, the Deeper State is amazing. It feels so nice how it responds - a really smooth return.

I’ve really been enjoying the Deeper State! Very good, as expected.
Its good.
I’m holding out for the Deepest State.
Hey Exmime.
Are you still keeping your grandmother entertained with that ball? I hope so! I am sure she enjoys your company.
Kudos to you for hanging out with her.
Here’s some pics of the Deeper State next to a Deep State for comparison:
I tried to take these from farther away, then crop, so I wouldn’t get camera distortion.
I do mourn the loss of Side Effects, and I need to pack the bearing with way more grease because it comes semi-responsive.
Strange how when standing on edge in the first photo the size looks extremely similar, but when laid flat in the second picture the size looks markedly different! Excited to get a deeper state in my hands and compare them in person.
Deeper State is a masterpiece of a player!!! Can’t recommend enough for modern responsive players!!! Strikes a perfect balance between the Deep State and the Alley Cat 650b. The only thing I’d change would be a sharper hub spike to make pull starts and matador play possible.
100% agree. I’m really liking the added diameter, though it doesn’t take away from the original. What’s really impressive is how it can really push into 1A play, but still has 0A chops. I’m embracing Semi-Responsive play.
