So I leave my dietz on a table and this dude(when I’m gone) walks the dog with it on the concrete floor. He put around three dings, four scratches, and a few pin pricks in it. How much did he devalue the yoyo?
Nothing, if your trying to sell it the value could decrease.
But if you only care about mint yoyos, it’s probably lost a TON of value.
If you just like and care about the yoyo period, it has lost NO value.
Any yoyo bought, if you try to sell it and its MINT in box, you won’t get nearly as much as you payed.

Forgot to ad that ;).
Some people are so worried about their yoyos getting dinged or nest up that they don’t even throw them.
Now you can throw it anywhere and care less who walks the dog.

I’ve seen mint in box Dietz go for $60 so not much.
I would pay around $30, if it is not vibey. If it is cosmetically damaged and vibey then it is worth almost nothing, unless it is minor vibe.

Psh, flooding the BST with Dietz’s is only going to lower their resale value.

Resell value can be VERY relative. You’re not going to get a hard answer. On the other hand, while he removed aluminum, he added character.

Anything ever is only worth what you can get someone to pay for it. I have seen people sell yoyos for over retail while the yoyo was still available. I have seen at the same time a yoyo for 30 bucks and one for 70. Same yoyo both mint. Both sold just fine.
My point is there is no chance for us to guess till it sells. If you want to know sell it and see. It’s really the only sure way.

I would never make someone pay for doing that, but it is your decision. I would say $20-$40 bucks max.

One of the risks you take when putting something down is someone grabbing it, especially if you walk away. Sucks that it happened, but on the bright side, you just learned the value of a holster or large pocket.
i didn’t want to have it in my pocket when I was playing dodgeball, so I put it in the sound booth with my inhaler…
