I started practicing with the sleeves in around February or March of this year…? and I’ve been listening to lots of upbeat dance music and stuff while I run and work out

I would never make a yoyo out of Gallium because it would melt in your hand and be a big waste of money.

I don’t plan on recording in an auditorium but I’ll consider it!

If you could take a bit of skill to help bolster a certain trick category of your own from another yoyoer (I.e some of Ayumu Kasuga’s zoning, Mir Kim’s hook-ability, Jensen Kimmitt’s flow, Zach Gormley’s tech), who would you take it from?

You ever try to kick flip a yoyo like this?

The process is to integrate my tricks into the music and not the other way around :stuck_out_tongue: I first start with the most important parts of the song first. I don’t create the freestyle in chronological order, but I choose the most important tricks in terms of emotional impact and I try my best to choose tricks that can match the level of energy needed.

If I don’t have any tricks that match a portion of the song, I try my best to make a custom trick that matches

It didn’t take too long, perhaps 3 months and only 2 prototypes. I have a better understanding now of how a yoyo’s design practically impacts the play style, so I put more thought into the contrast’s design to perform well in all regards

yes, if not in 2026, then in 2027

my fav freestyle of mine is nats this year

Yoyoing has helped me with creativity, confidence, and yes discipline. Depending on the person it can definitely help with all sorts of things!

Hanging out with my wife

And I’m not picky in terms of playing with a yoyo, I just like trying different flavors

Thanks!

  1. I started learning from a duncan trick book that was included with some yoyos, as well as youtube. The “what would you change in retrospective” question is fun because I would probably just use the knowledge I have now to go back in time and make my 16 year old self a multi time world champ
  2. Any unresponsive yoyo with a ball bearing can be a competition yoyo, but the designs have been trending a lot wider in the past five years, thanks mainly to our friend from Australia.

Competitive yoyo is definitely getting less interesting over time as players are discovering the most efficient strategies to score well and mimicking each other. I want to make my freestyles more interesting and original to counter balance it

sup, my favorite back then was probably the phenom or inspire, nowadays it’s the hitman pro, ringmaster, and titan 3

Yes I frequently am watching other routines. And less so trick vids, but still yes.

I take inspiration from so many great players, but those who inspire me the most are jensen kimmitt, hajime miura, ryuichi nakamura, koyo hashimoto, keiran cooper.

I want to win nationals and worlds next year! Or at the very least take my best shot!

Chocolate baybay, and I actually JUST got adjustable dumbells and a bench and haven’t lifted in 7 years so I’m just now easing back into it, but I’m gonna run outside right now and see how much I can do with one rep (spoiler alert I’m a weenie)

I just tried to max out my adjustable dumbells and was barely able to do it, 52.5 on each side so 105lb. Recently I have been doing 65lb for 15 reps (yeah i’m a weenie but I’m trying to get stronger)
