I was looking at my list of yoyo company links and I’m pretty amazed at the number of companies that have come and gone in the last few years! It’s tough to make a go of it. Here’s my list (Feel free to add or make corrections):

SF Yoyos

Smashing Yoyos

Airetic Strings

Return Top Shop

RevPunx

ThrowCafe

Lowkey Throws

Golden Hour Throws

Reticulated Return Tops

2sickYoYos

Big Bang Bangalores

PDX-YO

Rain City Skills

Bad Wolfe Co

Thesis

*It’s possible that some of these companies are still doing business, but have lost their websites.

R2fg still makes yo-yos under another name and still sells r2fg on the rainforest

Bad wolf co doesn’t sell direct atm but they do make small batches with circle city and made an appearance at Indy states

When did Rso stop producing pads?

Thanks! I’m glad Bad Wolfe is still making some strings! I was bummed when they closed their store.

What’s R2FG’s other name?

I’m not sure if they shut down, but their website expired.

Thesis and Prohibition also went offline.

OTOH, Hesh Enteprises just became active again.

Then there is HSPIN relaunch with the Handquake 2 and Antipodal C3 collaboration.

Sochi’s website also expired, and they’ve also not posted at all for a while on their socials

Only Pink Yoyos seems to be offline.

I hope this is just a clerical error. This seems crazy.

I think it’s Yozean? Not entirely certain

Yeah Toybania got into some trouble and shutdown, mazaltop got into a bunch of controversy and legal trouble and is more or less defunct and Sochi got into some controversy and is no more too.

IIRC, he was having issues with his full-time job(?).

I suspect that primary careers/responsibilities are a common reason why small yo-yo brands go quiet (not necessarily trouble, just priorities).

He also failed to pay for a run due to those issues.

Another one was save 3a is gone

Incorrect info on RSO(Round Spinning Objects).

He ‘is not’ out of Business.

But since him family life and full work schedule have had such a serious drain on his RSO mission, his future projects have just been pushed back.

His Website expired and he just didn’t feel like paying several hundred dollars an online presence, when no current project is available.

He is still working on projects and no doubt before the next one is set to release, he will have a Website up…

PS… when he gets back to me, I will let you guys know the latest info on availability or future availability of Landing Pads.

PS2… I scrolled down that list of enterprises that are no longer functioning. I mean, eventually we’ll all move down the road… But to me and many view obviously it still kind of sad to see some of the people that were really out there to do a good job and fit in to the yo-yo game for whatever reason, had to throw in the towel.

If it was time related or lack of ideas, related or lack of funds related or lack of profit related or fading interest related or several people working together on a business and a few of them decide they can’t do it anymore so the other ones just throw in the towel also… It doesn’t really matter. People do what they need to do or people do what they have to do. People can’t always do what they want to.

But everybody on that list provided an adventure for some of us. They provided a variety and there is an old saying that variety is the spice of life. Wherever you are today, you would not be here if you hadn’t traveled down the path that got you to this point.

There is an old saying that everything you learn will come to serve you someday. No matter how minuscule you may feel about it at a certain moment in time, if you live long enough eventually, somebody will say to you wow how did you know that? And you’ll just say it’s something I learned years ago.

Everything works exposed to helps us orient our minds to get a better perspective on participating in either being part of the problem or part of the solution. The stuff we don’t like, we should keep to our ourselves. And the stuff that we do like we should spread the word and get me more people on board so most of us at least can have fun.

Most of the businesses that I recognize on that list… On that long list, that doesn’t even include all the yo related businesses that have faded out in the last several years… But regardless, they all provided us with some adventure. New experiences, memories thoughts for the future And I’m certain most of us wish everybody on that list the best for the future. And you never know sometimes people are just in an orbit and will come back around again and a familiar name will pop up, and we will all smile to have the back and say damn where have you been, lol?

Just think of yo-yo’s and yo-yoing like a big English garden. As some flowers fade away others grow. We are sad to see the flowers that have run their course, but we always know as long as there’s enough of us on the right side of the number line the garden will always be beautiful.

Because yo-yos are fun.

Short answer vivik lost his job a year or so back and stopped shipping orders and missed paying several folks in the community tarnishing his name. Myself and many others had to dispute purchases as he couldn’t fulfill them nor refund the funds which black listed him from PayPal and sort of sealed the deal. There’s more but basically same as any other desperation story. Yoyo was not priority and the owner simply stopped responding at some point to focus on their own issues leaving everyone who was owed something holding the bag

Unspoken Yoyo Project is one I miss pretty often

I think it’s a shorter list of wood workers still making YoYo’s than those that have stopped but spinworthy @Glenacius_K has notably stated he’s on hiatus. Tmbr stopped and while the owner has a collab project brewing with clyw there is nothing direct from that brand. Fallen44 is blowing glass now. O.U.T has been out of the scene for some time. We haven’t heard much from wildwoods in the last year.

There are many many more that had a good run but have moved on cause working wood burns folks out OK be time it seems.
