buying first unresponsible yoyo

what would be a better yoyo for me dark magic or black night (im just starting to learn advanced tricks)

I would personally recommend the Hitman. It is very nice and used a double o-ring response system. Plays nice unresponsively and awesome spin times.

I think you mean unresponsive yo-yo.

Neither yo-yo will necessarily be better. Which one is better for you will depend on your preferences and what you like in terms of shape, etc.

Answer these questions to help us find what is best for you:

  1. What size do you prefer? (Big, small, medium, etc)
  2. What shape do you prefer? (Be specific: Round Butterfly, Flat Rims, pointy shape, H-Shape)
  3. What response do you prefer? (Silicone, O-Ring, Hybrid, Pad, etc)
  4. Do you like to mod/maintain it?
  5. Does color matter?
  6. How does your style relate to the yoyo? (What kind of tricks do you like to do?)
  7. What is your price range?
    8. What is your skill level? You already told us.

1.medium
2.concave
3.don’t really know only used o-ring’s
4.maintain
5.not really a cool color would be nice though
6.string tricks
7.40-55 thats with shipping included
8.what skill level would i be i think im somewhere around a 3

What exactly do you mean by concave for the shape?

Be a little more specific,as kimlan said, what do you mean by concave, what do you mean by ‘‘cool color’’?
If you are just loking for unresponsiveness,I reccomend the plastic grind machine,I think it can compete with any of those yoyos and the fact of hubstacks(if you choose to buy them of course)make it a bit better than those yoyos, simply awsome, but if you are not just looking for unresponsiveness ignore this.

Out of the two it is a very tough choice. I’m gonna go with dark magic.

kind of like the 888

Well, an 888 is wide and round. If you are looking at metal-rimmed YYJs, a Hitman or Black Knight could suit you well. Please note that they do not come unresponsive stock, but they do have a rounder shape.

As gm user suggested, a Plastic Grind Machine could also be a good choice. It is cheaper than metal-rimmed YYJs and plays just as well or even better (that will mainly depend on the yo-yoer, though). It does come unresponsive stock and you’ll also get to experience a hubstacked yo-yo!

Also, what yo-yos do you have?

what do you mean that they don’t come unresponsive (stock)

How do you make them unresponsive?thanks

How does the H-shape improve yo-yo play?

I mean that, at first, they will be responsive. To make them unresponsive there are several things you can do. You can break in the bearing by playing the yo-yo a lot, add a very tiny amount of thin lube, clean the bearing, shave the o-rings flush, etc. I would suggest just breaking in the bearing.

A yo-yo with an h-shape has more rim weight. It gives better weight distribution and essentially longer spin times.

To make it unresponsive, you can either put thin-lube in the bearing, or put shims/spacers in the yoyo.

Some yoyos have adjustable gaps, so you can make them slightly less responsive…

An H-Shape can be nice for some people, but it is all really about personal preference.

what is the difference between the thick and thin lube

Thick Lube makes a yo-yo more responsive. Thin Lube can break down factory lube in a bearing to make it unresponsive.

What is the difference between thick a thin shims?thanks

One is thicker, one is thinner. Thicker shims will give a wider gap than thinner ones. In my opinion, you don’t really need shims, though.

I would recommend the Dark Magic. It was my first yoyo and it’s awesome!!! ;D

And i’ve read that shims slow down the yoyo although I do not think so.

I have a GM and a DM and personaly I think I would go with the GM, it has good spin and smooth play and completely unresponsive out of the box. It is also very cheap and comes with 4 weight rings if you want it heavier. I would go with the version 2 GM with hubstacks at YYN for $35 shipping included. (It has a better surface for grinding)

We love Yoyoexpert  So for that reason, it is preferred that you do not link to other stores regarding a product you can get here.

Addment: Remember that YYE is also a store trying to earn money.
