Butterfly AL -- Caps or no?

I’ve got one with the delrin caps and they haven’t warped yet, but do the solid metal ones play better? Should I just pop my caps off to add others? What’s the deal?

Anyone?

If you’re asking if the older solid metal AL butterfly plays better than the delrin cap version, I prefer it. As far as changing caps on the delrin model I’m unsure.

If they haven’t warped yet they should be fine. A lot of them were just from the heat during shipping vs thin discs. I got a warped pair and I just forced them into the grooves and held a lighter a bit away from them to heat it back up so they would reshape properly and they’ve held perfectly with no issues.

Also, I don’t think the Delrin discs on the AL are a common size to be honest.

Never felt the need to adjust anything on my AL Butterfly. I am not sure why the delrin would warp…

I have seen Duncan metal caps on their site but they seem to be freehand caps, which are sized for many Duncan yoyos but probably not for the AL butterfly.

I’m kind of just repeating what the last guy said here but I think maybe that will help reinforce his answer.

I’ve actually always wanted to try them without the caps, but I couldn’t seem to get them out and was too timid to take further risk.

Love me the AL BF though and I should probably get another before they stop making them

Both models play weird without the caps

No Caps just makes them play lighter. Neither are the 48mm standard FH Cap size. Compressed air for the 2019 AL and suction cups for the 2023 AL
