Where in the US do you buy a D bearing. My bearing in my motionyoyo perpendicular has always been a bit wonky grindy not smooth. Yes it has been cleaned but it still has never spinned smooth always had a grindy feel to it which I think is causing the vibe it has but I checked zgrt and 1 bearing is 15 shipped since it’s coming from Canada.
Who else has D bearings for sale. I’m possibly planning on selling the perpendicular but I don’t know if it’s the bearing or the actual yoyo causing the vibe it so I’d like to replace it to list it properly
Yeah but they’re not concaved. They’re just flat. What happens if you put a flat bearing in a unresponsive over a concave one. I can find these size bearings on Amazon but they don’t have the concave to them.
The problem that I’m finding is all the bearings you buy that are concave let’s say you only need one. It turns out to be $15.00 you know the bearings usually like seven bucks and then the rest is shipping so it ain’t worth buying one bearing unless you’re buying a bunch.
The bearing in my perpendicular has always been kind of weird. It’s got always has like a wobbly grindy sound and when you take the bearing out it kind of wobbles a little. But even after cleaning it and de-shielding it scrubbing it with acetone and a toothbrush, I still can’t get the bearing smooth so it causes a bit of vibration
Concave D bearings are tough. I asked my contact at the factory if they can make them but haven’t heard back yet. You can do unresponsive with a flat D bearing though.
Yeah but won’t the flat make the string go to the side more then to the center? Would it cause any issues with tricks because you can get a bunch of them on Amazon cheap like $20 for eight bucks. But if you get a concave it’s two for $20
Same thing as a flat c bearing. One Drop includes them because they can be used for tons of tricks and some people prefer them. Some people also hate them and toss them the moment their OD gets delivered. It’s really up to personal preference. If you get Amazon ones just keep in mind you will have to deshield and clean them thoroughly to get them unresponsive.
Honestly as long as it’s not responsive or causing a bunch of vibe on the yoyo I wouldn’t stress it. Out of all my yoyos and the bearings I’ve bought I have maybe 5 or 6 that are “perfect” so to speak. Even the 25$ NSK I bought was crunchy. As long as it spins and keeps your yoyo unresponsive it’s fine
My bearing in my perpendicular is def crunchy but I think it’s what is causing all my vibe. I was planning on selling the perpendicular but I do know if it’s just the bearing or the yoyo itself so I don’t know how to list it.
I don’t use it so I want to sell it for something else
Yeah some people say concave cause the string layers to bunch up and bind up/ drag against each other, where flats let them slide past each other freely
All bearings eventually go crunchy and just require maintenance. Lots of Bearing Maintenance threads within the Forums. Certain regions require different techniques. I’m in the Southwest and Canned air and a 1/2 of drop of Bones Speed Cream works for me after I deshield with and x-acto knife. Here is just another example.
I will say for motion D bearing throws in particular Jeremy is pretty open about vibe in them. Something about it being harder to make dead smooth d bearing throws. I’ve only ever dealt with a bearing being the source of vibe once or twice and it was extremely obvious the bearing was the issue. It was loose and sounded like it had sand in it. No amount cleaning fixed the sound
Our tolerances on d bearing yo-yos are super tight I fix them to the best of my ability with no vibe if you unscrew it - you have to retune it to near perfection. If you want to send the yoyo back to me I can likely fix it, I sold you a B grade so it had a little anno discoloration if this is the same YoYo you had before.

Good news my contact at the factory can do U groove D bearings. They are a little pricier and I had to order sooo many of them haha (2000 unit minimum quantity) so they will probably come out to like $1.80 each instead of my normal $1 bearings once I get them in stock.
I love d bearing throws, but you are correct its hard to find concave ones. What i often do is buy some from hobby shops and I’ll use my dremel and sand a groove in the middle of the bearing. It usually works pretty good for me and if you mess up you only spent like 10 or 15 bucks for like 10 of them so you can practice until you get it how you want.
