This review is of a more timely yoyo I got from nats from a fellow small company run by a pal of mine, Owen @Prelaunch37. If you aren’t going to support Pop! either support his brand, Wicked Yoyos, or Dreamcraft.
Snowangel is a bit of a misnomer for this yoyo i think. If I were given creative license to name this yoyo it would probably be “Ford F350 dual axle truck with the 6.7L turbo diesel engine” as that is more apt for how this yoyo plays.
Snowangel feels heavy for 65.9g. Before I looked it up, I thought it was probably somewhere in the 68-70g region of weight. In many ways because of this, it is kind of the equally-valid antithesis to the yoyo id designed, the Weasel, which plays lighter than its mass of 67g suggests. If I were to guess, Snowangel probably has at least 36.5k mmoi. It’s absurdly powerful for a monometal.
Is it good? I’d say so myself. Despite lacking in the speed department and maybe a bit also in the area of horizontal stability (not enough to discount the possibility that it might be a skill issue on my end though), this yoyo is very fun and suits the play of what I’ve seen from the player the yoyo was made for, Angel Orozco. Offers plenty of spin time, has high inertia to stay in place for hooks and zoning where predictability is needed. Is it the best yoyo ever? No. Like myself, Owen is a budding designer and I know that he has better to offer than this. I personally prefer his first offering, the Jester, more. That being said, an a-grade Snowangel only ran me 55 bucks for a very solid 7075 monometal that I am by no means complaining about. I’m still pleased overall I made this purchase, I’m just more excited to see what Owen has in store for us next. If you like powerful, affordable yoyos that could probably break through concrete if need be, get a Snowangel. I might not be absolutely in love with it, but there is definitely a crowd that will adore it.
