Bearing maintenance

Alright so, my unresponsive kit for my DV888 will be here Monday. for the most amount of spin time I have read that soaking the bearing in a solvent and running it dry is the best way to go about it.Now at work i got access to acetone.it is a solvent, but would that be acceptable to use?

It is 100% fine on Yo-Yos.

Just make sure to let it evaporate completely before putting it in the seat

Although dry is the longest spinning, it won’t last as long as if you lube it regularly (Correctly)

Tbh if it’s your first unresponsive I wouldn’t bother.

You should probably try out the unresponsive kit first before cleaning the bearing. It’s probably fine already.

Most bearings come with a fantastic spintime right out of the box, so no cleaning will be necessary.
And yeah, acetone(pure acetone) is perfect. If you want your bearings to last more and stay more silent just put a little bit of lube on it (the less the best imo)

Totally agree with SirDarverok.
If you run bearings dry for too long they will seize up.
