Does anyone own both? I know they’re really similar, just curious if anyone has a preference between them and why.
I have both and on a personal level, I think they actually play significantly different from each other.
The Butterball is just fantastic, one of the smoothest organics I’ve played from a general setting. Also, much lighter than I expected, but without that stability issue that you get sometimes from other center-weight heavy designs which try to accomplish that feeling. Just feels really balanced, and “buttery” smooth.
The Gumball is equally fantastic, but in a different way almost. It feels larger and more oversized right in the hand, but still again, surprisingly light from what you would expect. Just a big organic without the traditional oversized weight on a string feels. A little slower and more chill-jam kind of style that you often play with larger throws, without the fatigue (even with the POM version).
You can’t go wrong with either, but from an all-arounder kind of aspect, I think the Butterball is one of the best Organics I’ve played.
Love them both. The Gumball is a bouncier, slower rpm Butterball. They have the same frame with slightly differing weight distribution (pom/polycarb rings). The Gumball is incredibly soft to catch.
Atmos describes the Gumball as the Butterball’s big brother and I think it captures that perfectly. If you like one, you’ll like the other.
